For those who live in China, hunting for extremely bad Chinglish is almost a sport. Most of the people who do it are like me, professional English teachers. We often trade our finds via Wechat. The above picture is one of the worst I have ever found. It's not just the hilarity of looking at this menu and wondering whether scallops have assholes or not. What is singularly unbelievable is that it made it onto a menu of a chain restaurant, Tacos. I have seen two Tacos restaurants in Changzhou, and both still have it on the menu. Also, I found another in Zhenjiang -- it's also there, too. Once you probe into the Chinese on the menu, you find out that the dish isn't scallop as in the shellfish, but scallop as in the verb. You know, what is often done to potatoes? I once walked into Tacos and tried to order "fresh scallop asshole," but they were all out. Tried their tacos instead, and I really wasn't all that impressed.
