The only constant thing in life is change but as for nature it's changes as time passes. Indispensable cold season ( harmatan) is occurring presently somewhere in Nigeria along the Saharan desert of Niger republic, the seat of the caliphate popularly known as sokoto state. Sokoto state is located in the sub-sahara desert in northern part of Nigeria and it is dominated by the Hausa tribe.
During some certain time of the year around December to feburaury this region do experience a cold season popularly known to them as "locachi sahin" (harmatan period). Some people can withstand the stress and endure it for the time period while some people travel to other part of the country to escape the season and some remain indoor.
The harmatan occur as a result of dusty wind that blows from the Saharan desert toward the western coast of Africa during the winter. The weather of the state varies during this period. It cold during the morning, hot during the day and the cold reaches its peak at the night .

people react diffferently to this season, some wear double to triple set of clothe to conserve the body heat, some visited hot tea vendor (mai shai) to have a hot drinks while some don't even bath at all to avoid contact with water either cold or hot especially among the indigenous motorcycle riders (okada man). This makes some people to avoid taking bike during this period for the fear of unbearable and irritating odour from different part of the body of motorcycles riders ( okada man ).
