RE: So that was a bad idea... What is the most regrettable favor you have ever done for someone?

A kind of favour, with a twist at the end: two years ago, a friend of my gf had to store some books somewhere and my gf agreed to have it at our flat, though it was small. She didn't say there were HUNDREDS of books of course and it took ALL our shelves. Anyway... Time passes... No sign she wants them back.... Time passes... I break up with my gf... Still no sign of the friend wanting to get them back... Time passes... I eventually moved from the flat, last month and at last, she decides to get her books back. but of course she is not available so, I put all the books in boxes and leave them near the door where she can find them... When i come back from work, 75% of the books are gone and 25% are just lying there :-/ Wtf? She just abandoned these at my door? So, I take them out, near the garbage, where everyone can have them in the street... Two hours later, the girl is back and wants to know where are the rest of her books (the first 75% she had donated to a library) because these were her favourite books! I went to the street with her: most of the books had been taken away already by passerbys, and even if she was pissed off I could barely repress a smile, not feeling particularly sorry for her, who suddenly, after 2 years, realize that these are her favourite books and desperately want them back.

Yeah I think you did all you could. You were MORE than reasonable. She just ended up donating a few more.
