First of all thanks for the very interesting post.... and moreover I haven't done anything like that yet

Stood on the platform in York waiting for a train to london, heard the announcement that the train on the opposite platform was going to durham, decided Id always wanted to go to durham so got that train and spent an amazing unplanned weekend in durham!

Pretty cool. 😀 😃 😄 😁

That's fantastic!

I trapped vampire bats in the Central American rainforest. All in the name of science and for a few college credits. We sept outside in sleeping bags. As we gathered around the campfire on the first night our professor told us of a previous trip he had been on in which he had awaken during the middle of the night and discovered a vampire bat perched on a student's face and quietly licking blood from a small bite it had inflicted. Our professor quickly scared the bat away and when he woke the student up the student had revealed that he was having a wonderful dream in which angels had been fanning him.

lolol i love that show "friends".
The wildest thing i've done? uhmmm secret hahaha.

This is so funny! upvoted! 🤗

An impromptu bicycle ride, that went horribly wrong!

I always loved going on long bicycle rides back in India. The first thing I bought with my salary was a Schwinn mountain bike. I was absolutely in love with it! On weekends sometimes I would go on a ride from MG Road in Bangalore to the international airport, have a subway sandwich, and return back. That is a total distance of 70 km, and the road was mostly flat. I even went to office everyday on it (8 km one way), avoiding the horrible Bangalore traffic. But after I traveled abroad for my Master studies, I hardly had any money or the time to continue with my passion for bicycling.

After my master thesis, I received an internship offer in Crailsheim, Germany. This place is beautiful and a perfect location to go around on weekends for bicycle rides. So, obviously, the first thing I did was buy a bicycle so that I can commute everyday from my room to work and back. I checked out online for any used bikes and found one for 200 Euros. But this seller was staying in Schwäbisch Gmünd, which was around 60 km from my place, Crailsheim. So I decided to take a train to that place, reach at around 10 am, have a look at the bicycle and buy it if I like it.

So I wake up at 10 am the next day and miss my train (Yeah WTF!). There, the obvious sign that this day is truly determined to screw you up! I had to be back by evening so that I can cook some food, get some good sleep and wake up for my first day at work. I go ahead with what I had planned in total oblivion of what the day had lined up for me. I wouldn't cancel my plan since I was very excited of having a bicycle finally, and more because I was a stubborn piece of shit!

Everything seems fine, I buy my bike and get a helmet along with it as well. Like many times and of course this time as well, a ridiculously stupid idea crosses my mind. Why not bicycle all the way back to Crailsheim? After all the distance is just 60km and I had my camera with me (I am an avid photographer). I could take beautiful photos of the countryside, after all it was spring and didn't have to worry about the weather going all nuts on me (which it didn't, it just went all fuckin dark!). It was already 3 pm and so I got my ass outta there like Millennium Falcon on hyperdrive, soon realizing I was no more horizontal. The entire way was lined with steep ups and downs, small hills, big hills, fuckin big hills (No, not mountains now please!). I had never accounted for all this because of my stupid Geography teacher.

Anyway, I got tired within 5km of cycling. Moreover, I had nothing to eat and only a bottle of water. No spare tubes to fix any flat tyre, not even a bloody pump. There are only very few tiny towns in between and no way to take shelter for the night. I didn't even know the language to ask for directions. My phone gave away (Yeah, forgot to charge my phone the previous night. How cute!). So now I had no sense of direction as well. Got lost, in the middle of nowhere. Came across a cabin in the woods (not the horror movie, although I did fantasize being Chris Hemsworth for a while). I had watched way too many scary movies to not be scared. It was straight out of the Wrong Turn movie, minus the hot chicks! It was also starting to get darker very soon, I was shit scared, had to pee! My only option was to guess one of the routes and just keep riding. That is exactly what I did and luckily I found the main road and kept myself going along wherever it lead me. I finally found the right way and after hours of drudgery I finally reached my room at 12pm and woke up at 6am for my first day at office (6 hours of sleep, like a boss!)

Here are a few pics I took on that dreadful night. Yes, probably going to get lost tonight in the woods, but first let me take some photos first.

This is awesome! You need to make this a full post!!! Nice movie references too.

Hahaha, this post was funny and really nice, made me reminisce of the amazing time I had in the 90s. I'm from Tupac era so my 20s were lit and insane, I really can't tell you the wildest thing I've done because it would make most in comments section and you as the author of the post look like choir boys in comparison to me... Hehehe... No harm or foul intended. Really nice post though

Speaking of the Tupac and Biggie era brings back some amazing memories. Cheers.

Lol! Yeah I had to keep this pretty tame. My 12 year old reads what I write here. When my kids are 21 I will share the true debauchery that was my youth.

50? lol, I had 6 grandkids by 50 (8 now). I guess that's the craziest thing I've ever done!

Not sure what would qualify for that. Racing a Corvette in my El Camino down 16th Street in Phoenix wouldn't be at the bottom of the list. Neither would be screaming up the same street in a Porsche 911 turbo (130ish). But crazy without being stupid? Hrmmm... I told my wife she was wrong once... once... Now that's crazy!

8 grandkids! Wow you must be a cool grandpa! Yes telling your wife she was wrong is definitely crazy!

Wildest thing or craziest thing?

I'd say they are different, but I'll go with one of the very crazy things I did as a 15 year old kid.

After my Mom was a sleep at night, I would take her car keys and then her car and go driving around town. I only did this a couple of times and both times drove about 30 minutes to the airport.

Why the airport? I don't actually know, maybe I was dreaming of actually going somewhere fun and warm.

But once there, we'd wonder around and see what we could find of interest.

Understand, this was way back when airport security was light and especially at 2am. We never did anything that was harmful, we were just looking around. We would never be destructive, that wasn't who we were or are.

It was just some strange curiosity.

The 2nd time I did this, one the way home, a police car with siren blaring and lights going comes flying up behind me and I pulled over, as I was supposed to do.

My heart and in my throat!

Fortunately, he had other business and went flying by me.

That was the last of my mid-night ventures in my Mom's car.

Wild? Not sure.

But, definitely some that was very crazy and I'm even surprised today that I did it.

Lol! Perfect story. When I was 17 I would take dates to the airport. We would watch planes take off and people watch. You could basically walk to the gates back then. It was cheap and unique... just like me.

Very happy to hear you avoided the police record!

Thanks - I'm not sure what it is, but people love to watch the planes take off and land. It's just amazing that something so massive can fly and carry all those people.

Yes, I'm very glad of that as well. - No police record here.

The wildest thing I've ever done was sleeping on the couch in the sitting room with my hands stuck in my trousers after Barcelona FC lost to Baryern Munich home & away few years back in the UEFA Champions League. I did that unknowingly and slept off, only to be awaken to see everyone laughing at me and taking photos. Mehnn that day was hell.
U5dsk6ejj2Y9cuvuGkHQWAjiDaNxaUU.gif

oh
f**k are you kidding man

I ain't kidding.

Lol! If this were a contest you'd win for the meme alone!

Hahaha...definitely 😂

I would have taken a few bribes and ran.

I took one pair of trousers and two tshirts and head out to the nebouring country (South Africa) to meet with an unknown cousin.
Arrived at destination by night and for 4 days I was wondering a big city without a penny in my pocket lucky I finnally meet him when I was alredy desperate asking lifts back to Mozambique and the first to stop and give me the lift was the cousin.

That's very brace. I hope you had fun!

This post and the comments made me realize I am leading a boring life. Lol! I kept thinking of the wildest thing I did and it's not even worthy to be mentioned here. Maybe I should start exploring things to do that will keep my life interesting.

This is great, I do try to live my life by this and have done a few things along the way most would think is crazy. I've been on many impromptu and unorthodox trips and routine "couch surf" with strangers along the way.
I would have to say the most crazy was deciding I was going to take up bull riding and join the rodeo circuit for the summer. PS it's way harder that it looks and hurts more too.

It looks impossible! You have a ton of guts!

This post is so nice and by these you can gain confident and be yourself to let anyone knows you better.
My wildest experience is when im walking at mall then shout so loud " i really really love this girl " but i don't even know the name of the girl, the crowd become quiet and all eyes on me then lastly i shouted again " It's only a Joke " hahaha
Everytime i remember those days it makes me smile like crazy. hehehe

Thanks to the author of this post it makes everyone happy im sure.

After night of heavy drinking in Hong Kong, some friends and I stopped by a street vending cart and each ordered a large plate of fried chicken. As we were walking (stumbling) back to our hotel, we came across a large fountain and pool in the middle of a town square. My friends and I thought it would be a good idea to strip down to our boxers and go for a 3am swim. So I went swimming in a fountain in the middle of downtown Hong Kong in my boxers while eating fried chicken!

Yep that counts!

Now that was a fun read! I'm 51 and yes, 50 is the new 30. I was a lot of fun in my 20's, then I became a wife and mother. I have recently divorced and am now the happiest I have ever been in my life. I'm learning how to be fun and creative again! I'm absolutely feeling like I'm 30! I've journaled my entire life and started writing a memoir 7 years ago. I am currently finishing it and testing it here on steemit. Pop by and read my first chapter named, "The Affair". Reading this post was very inspiring thanks for starting my morning onto a fun cheerful path! Namaste

Normally people don't like when others drop links in comments... but you took the time to explain how it connected to this post. I am happy to hear you are happy! I'll check it out.

I'm so glad you told me that. I'm new to this, not yet aware of the etiquette. I will remember this going forward.

Not wildest but funny... when I was 12 years old at school I laugh a lot with my friend on one thing until I pee on my pants then my teacher in school saw me.. and let it dry until the school finished but the smell still there hahaha ..so embarrassing.

Lol! Must have been really funny!

Yes it's funny.... but so embarrassing if your the one experience.. :)

i sold a domain name to one of the founders of twitter. that was pretty wild ;)

Thats awesome!!

OMW, when I saw the mentos add I completely lost my story...it was quite good, really (my story, not the mentos add) :)
As for your story, absolutely brilliant, thank you :-)

I love photographing and adventures in general. My senior year of college a friend and I had planned a drive from NYC where we were living at the time to Alabama to do some photographing. It's really only a 16 hour drive or so but due to traffic and some other unforeseen things the drive took almost 24 hours. It was unseasonably cold and we had only stopped for more than just gas and snacks once in the drive. We tried to take a nap at a rest stop and with temperatures hovering around 0 degrees C well it just wasn't possible we almost froze.

We get down there and I decide to go out and get a little drunk (despite at this point having been awake for well over a day) and proceed to have a pretty wild party night but that's not where it got crazy. The weather had predicted snow for Alabama which is not that common and has the tendency to shut down highways and make travel difficult and dangerous. So my friend and I? We headed back up north that next day..... after barely sleeping haha. Total time in Alabama: a day or so? Compared with a 38 hour drive and no sleep! Good thing we got a few good photographs and some good memories!

It is amazing that you have fond memeories of that. Way to make the best of it!

I thought I would write the wildest thing but after reading this I feel my wildest thing is yet to come :p

I entered service at the army and insisted to join the parachuting troups. Although I never entered a plane before. So it came that the first five times I was flying in a plane I did not see the landing, but jumped out before. Guess this is pretty wild :-)

You have a lot of courage!

I have to add that I entered the service with a long beard, shoulder long hair, a guitar at hand and a T-shirt with the words "love will heal the world". Not sure wich one was more curageous...
Probably both were not curage, but carelessness ;-)

I think the craziest thing I've ever done was ask one of my childhood idols out for dinner. I was afraid of crossing that fine line between greatful fan and creepy stalker. She said yes, we had a wonderful time, and we are friends. ^_^ We even got to hang out at PAX09 (she works at Valve).

Ilable this as "crazy" because I could have been labled "drooling stalker fangirl" and removed from the premises by security.

Wow that takes guts! Good for you! Hope you share the identity some day.

Oh you wild boy - not doing wild stuff - but as we are celebrating #
Oktoberfest a wile drunk one - or rather sad :-) (not me, found on YT)

I started going out in Chicago ten years after you but it brings a smile to my face to remember Crobar. I really miss those Chicago clubs.

It used to be so much fun!

Interesting post and reminds me how age changes the way one feels about crowds and how he just doesn't want to struggle through them unless almost guaranteed the event is worth a place on his " bucket list"!

i once pinched a car and got chased by the police they blocked the road ahead with two police cars so i rammed them , that was quite a crazy night , i was young , and in latter life i traveled to turkey and made an attempt to climb mount Ararat to look at Noahs ark , but my whole life has been wild

That's crazy! Glad you got that out of your system.

2-week backpacking trip in the Big Horn Mountains. Was a very physical challenge even though we spent an entire year getting ready for the trip. While there we took a day trip up Bomber Mountain and got to see with our own eyes an airplane that flew too high so when it went to turn it was not where it was supposed to be and hit that mountain. Wreck of the airplane was still there.

Went fishing when we could to have something fresh fish over what we had packed. I never caught anything but still had a blast trying. We even found someone who had carried up booze and was storing it in the lake to keep it cool. Was able to enjoy nature to its fullest. In fact, most of that summer was a crazy good time.

Now was this the craziest thing I have ever done? It’s the craziest thing I have ever done in the state of Wyoming : ) plenty of other things in life as well. But those and further explanation of this would be a funnier topic to make one day perhaps.

There is a series right there "craziest thing I have done in Wyoming"

Would be a few things on that trip that be sure. On the way there we slept over at a place bikers where staying coming from all over the nation for some event.

Bunch of boy scouts in a cabin surround by 100's of bikers. Them all dressed up in leather and a few where just sleeping outdoors.

First things first. I actually woke up my roommate because I cracked up proper quite a few times reading what you wrote. I love your tone, wonderful!!

The craziest thing I have ever done is - a few years ago I almost got shot right in the head by this utterly handsome guy with alarmingly high sociopathic tendencies. Almost, LITERALLY stared down the barrel of a gun. Point blank. LITERALLY saw his fingers twitch on the trigger. Said my prayers and bye bye to the world before getting miraculously saved by someone I now hold very, very dear to me. It may not be the "wild" that you would ever voluntarily experience just for the sake of letting your adrenaline rush go nuts, and it's not the happy crazy memory that you would ever want to recollect in front of a warm fire many many years later to your grandchildren.

It was crazy in terms of it's insane magnitude - It was a tremendously disillusioning experience for me. There is nothing that I refused to learn from it... the fragility of life, the importance of each of your decisions, their dominos effects and their consequences, the meaning of real danger, and the true demonstration of "your life flashing before your eyes." It was all the wrong kinds of wild. But it's changed me more than perhaps anything else could.

I try to make smarter decisions, be less impulsive, appreciate life more, and avoid questionable actions and people like the plague.

How amazing would it be that your wildest memory is not only that, but also your most life-altering and scariest one also?

Are you ok? This sounds very scary.

I wish mine was somewhat like yours and that I had the same humor that you've got (much love). But yes, it was quite scary. But I'm perfectly fine and incidents that mark a certain change in your life are usually most cherished - whether it was accomplishing something, making a crazy move, or getting in trouble - they should always be welcome. :)

Oh and yes! 50 is the new 30! Age is just a number, and we should never let it undermine us as a person. If you're eccentric and crazy and fun-loving, you should be all that even at 70! :D

I used to climb buildings for fun. I plead the fifth regarding further details.

Very funny- I have too many thing to name here but now I am old and well behaved hahahaha. So lets just leave it at that.....

Lol, that was funny! 😅😂😅

Come to think of it? What was the wildest thing I've ever done?! Either I have been a very good girl or I am just detached to my old persona, I cannot think of anything quite quickly now. 😕

50 is the new 30. It better be because I'm 50. When I was 48 I quit my job at a law firm, moved to Orlando, and started working at Universal Studios as a cartoon character attendant. Best part of the job: I get to be in the Superstar parade. Unless it rains. Then I get paid to do nothing. 😃

Have you done a post about this? You should!!!

Yeah, I probably should!

I went to save a friend of mine from the snatchers who attacked him.
We held them off by fighting back and taking defensive stance with a steel ruler. They ran away until some people were coming from far.
We are lucky we didn't end up getting too hurt.. :p

Wow! Glad you made it out ok.

Yeah. Sometime, I was scared as hell. It was like, one wrong move and you will get stabbed. They had a knife too. But we had a steel ruler and medium sized bricks by our side.

I never want to experience that again. :(

the wild thing that i did was to run a marathon. Its for crazy people like me.

i have done a flair party with all of my friend at mid night in open field, shout and laugh, lighting all arround with multi color flair and food court ourselves! thanks to help me recall mine memory.

Well, at the ripe old age of 21, I don't know that I have a single event that qualifies as the 'wildest thing' I've ever done. I've been fortunate enough to live a life out of the norm of my peers which basically provides many periods of 'wild.' I'm going to Steemfest, stopping in London for 2 two days prior. Perhaps I will have a 'wildest' thing to talk about (or maybe never to talk about) then?

Lol! I am living vicariously through you! I hope you have a great time!

That sounds like you're not going, bummer. Well, I am hoping to actually do some vlogging. I've been wanting to break into videos so with energy and excitement of my trip, I think it's a great way to start. My point is, I intend to photo / video document as much as I can.

I'm sure you will be awesome at that as well!

Yeah I can't go but can't wait to hear the stories!

Well, I shall do my best to photo document (and I am going to try out vlogging) the whole experience so that it can be shared

If ever given an opportunity to give a speech at a graduation or any event to a group of aspiring young adults, I'd give the same advice, live wild. (By the way, wild does not include ink and self mutilation). I could go on and on about living life outside the 'norm', but I'll live it there for now.

In regards to the Bulls, I was a huge fan of the NBA at that time in my life. Having a chance to say I'd hung out at a club with Scottie Pippin would have been a big deal to me. I always admired how Rodman played. No matter how 'out-there' he looked, he gave his all on the court. I feel like I can picture the whole event and it looks like a very memorable moment.

Yep I have no tattoos or piercings either. That actually made me kind of weird at the time. Rodman is one of my favorite players ever. He was all hustle and effort. He knew his role and played it perfectly!

One more thing. Pippen is my favorite player ever. I may be the only person in Chicago who likes pippen more than Jordan.

The craziest thing I have heard of late did not happen to me. It happened to a friend of mine, or, more accurately, he caused this to happen. My friend gets incredibly drunk at a bar in NYC. He shuts down the bar with a friend at 2 AM or whatever. Rather than try to make it across town to his apartment, he stays over at a friend's place on that friend's couch. My friend wakes up in the middle of the night, predictably, having to use the restroom. Disoriented, he walks out the front door of the apartment, thinking he is walking into the bathroom. Alas, no toilet. He starts walking down the hallway and starts trying to open every door, looking for the bathroom. Eventually, one door opens. He walks into a stranger's apartment, uses the restroom. He is so drunk that it never occurs to him that he is not in his friend's apartment. He does his business and goes to sleep in a stranger's living room, on the stranger's couch. He is awakened early that morning by a 3-year-old girl who says, "Mommy, there's a strange man on our couch!" My friend is forced to run from the apartment, wearing only socks and boxers. He made it out alive, believe it or not, and found his way home shortly thereafter. Talk about a close call.

Lol!!!! Imagine the story the owners of the second apartment tell!

Oh man, talk about couch surfing! That's extreme couch surfing there.

Great story. Did you meet Rodman?

Several times. Talked to him about video games quite a bit actually. When he first started showing up, he just sat in a corner and no one noticed him. I knew who he was but didn't want to be "that guy" who bothered him about basketball or madonna or whatever so we talked about games. He was big into the golfing game at the time...

Rode, blind drunk, on the roof of a car going 50 mph through the Midtown Tunnel (before 9/11) clear through from Manhattan to the Long Island expressway.

I could still recall the look on my dad's face the day I told him I wanted to quit school so I could fully follow my dreams of being a music producer. Telling him wasnt the issue, but the manner in which I told him. MAHN THAT WAS WILD.

Very interesting post and a question that I would have to think long and hard about before answering on here! :)

It's so frustrating to see so many up-votes on a single post. I post my best-est content here on steam, yet there are only a few people who see my post and out of 5, only 1 person up-votes which too is from a rank 25 user, which really doesn't make a difference. Life isn't fair lol
