I agree with what @indigoocean said in her comment, regarding this event's being interesting from the "weaving of cultures" standpoint. Everyone indulges in diversions from everyday life at times, whether those be sports, video games, movies, or billiards at the local pub; I see no difference between diversions like those as compared to watching a royal wedding.
