No wonder you are so jaded after seeing all that depravity. I have led a sheltered life in comparison. Not sure I could be a cabbie as I don't like driving much generally. Dealing with drunks would have to pay a lot to get me to do it for a living.

When I started, it was hard to get a license. I also had a Hackney Carriage license that allowed me to drive a Black Cab. Then they closed the pit down, and the council pooped itself at the prospect of thousand men looking for work and gave away licenses left-right and centre. One (Monday) night, I went home with 36p in my pocket; I shit you not. The following morning I looked for another job.
I wouldn't do it again, but it was fun for the two or three years I did it.
I'm sure every cabbie has some good stories. You should tell a few more.
I've generally avoided jobs that involve dealing with the public.
