Being an Island Girl makes this post so appealing to me. I must admit the first year I spent away from home has me missing our fruits more than anything. Then I discovered something, the ability to enjoy the unknown.
I remember the first time I bought watermelon in Japan, I went through several emotions, the first of which was being super upset I had to pay so much for one melon. Melons in Japan were super expensive, but guess what there is no doubt that the melon you bought would be super sweet. This is something we didn’t and could not count on in Jamaica. You could never tell if you were going to get a sweet melon or a “fresh” melon.
Another fruit that is not native to Jamaica is the blackberry. I don’t know why I thought blackberries were sour 🤷🏽♀️. So you can imagine my surprise when I tasted a blueberry for the first time and discover it was sweet. You know that pleasant surprise you get when you convince yourself that something taste bad, only to receive the opposite - that was me! Now I have blackberries with my chia pudding
Now these are not the only fruits I have discovered from my travels. But they are the ones I love the most and eat as often as I can. Ohh. Did I mention my new crush on berries! All things berry.

How do you make that chia pudding?
@shanibeer I used almond milk, and vanilla oil with chia seed. I usually make it from overnight so it’s really thick in the morning. The fruits act as natural sweeteners
How much are the square melons?
I don’t quite remember. I believed one of those cost more than ¥5000.00. Oh there were not as sweet as the regular watermelon melons
