What do your avocados look like? In California, Hass Avocado (which is the wrinkly skin I think you’re talking about) is the most popular avocado. It wasn’t until we left the country that I discovered the shiny smooth skin avocado. I’ve seen some as big as a cantaloupe before too. Mostly in Central America but have seen one that size in Greece.

Avocados i ever seen here all has stretch skin, not too smooth.. but never a wrinkly one, except when it's too young when it's plucking from the tree. Our Avocado from the Central Aceh has a pear shape and more thick fiber in it, taste not too sweet too.
Yea, the different varietals do taste differently from one another. The giant ones keep better too.
