FRUITS AND VEGGIES MONDAY - Spinach Houmous

IMG_0705.jpg

We're having houmous quite often in our household and to keep it interesting, I thought I'd spice it up a bit, well actually, green it up with some spinach. We had a whole bag of it anyways and I thought it would give the traditional recipe a bit of a twist.

Here it goes:

  • 400g chickpeas (1 tin)
  • 150g spinach
  • 1 tbsp tahini
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • pinch of salt

  1. Blend it all in a mixer.
  2. Add water or lemon juice, if needed.
  3. Enjoy on toasted bread, as a dip, on the side

Wow! It looks so yummy! I like the houmouss , you made this oriental dish more creative when you added to it the spinach, really looks amazing!!

What an interesting idea! Did it taste like spinach or was it more of a color effect?

I'd say both. It had a bit of a different taste, but the spinach wasn't as prominent as when you'd add roasted pepper or carrots.

Definitely my kind of food...........healthy and delicious. Superb photography as well.

You can never have too many hummus variations! I always love having something like this ready in the refrigerator. Spinach is a great addition. :)

That sounds delicious, a good combination.
