Flashlight: Day 382: 5 Minute Freewrite: Tuesday

in #freewrite6 years ago (edited)

You've got a flashlight in your hand as you walk through the house. You spot a mouse nibbling on cheese, a springed trap beside the mouse without cheese nor a mouse is upside down.

You tip-toe around the couch so as not to disturb the mouse. You remember the last time you disturbed a creature of its size - how it run up your night gown, waking the whole family with your terrific scream.

You come to where the door leading into the hallway is. Turning off the flashlight, you gently and cautiously open the door one squeak at a time. You scold yourself for not using the coconut oil to make your passage through the dark a noiseless one.

You stop when the door is half-way open, listening to any sound that might be your downfall. You wait. You wait some more. Your heart is beating in your throat. You swallow something you image to be the size of a full grown horse.

You move, squeezing through the half-open door. You hit something in the dark.

Backing away, you turn on the light and shine it directly at the object, and say, "Oh daddy. What are doing up at this late, late hour?"

You know ... he was about to ask his teenage daughter the same question.

I found this picture here but because I messed up with copy and paste and the site is not going to let me find it again because I'm no one a trial basis - this will have to do as credit.

Ongoing Contests

  • twenty-four hour short story - You gotta be quick to get this one posted in time. He posts the contest on Sunday (usually) and ends it about 48 hours later. This contest has a 2000 word limit.

  • Finish the Story Contest - The contest begins on Wednesday (usually) and end 5 days later. This contest will test your write skills with something a little different each week. Pletty of time to write something around the 500 word mark.

  • Steem Monsters Common Card Fantasy Story Contest! - Coming out roughly every week. If you enjoy card games like Magic, Yugio, and others like it, you might like this game. Write a fictional tale about the card they present in the contest and your entry just might be the one they choose to showcase.

  • Tell A Story To Me, And Win 5 SBD! Writing Contest - Kind of random when it comes out but don't worry. You will have two weeks to complete your work of art from the given prompt. Have fun!

  • Haiku - These are coming out every couple days or so. If you stuggle with rhymes, no worries. Haikus don't have to rhyme. All you need to make a haiku is five syllable on the first, seven syllables in the second line, and again back to five syllable for the last line. So easy it makes me think I'm being super product. LOL

  • Mizu No Oto - Every Image Has Its Haiku Contest - By reading the title, you should be able to guess how this haiku contest works. You're given an image and you write. I've really enjoy this contest because there are people here who've actually gone to classes to learn how to write haiku's; so if you want, you also can learn how to write quality haikus from reading the comments and critiques they and others give.

  • 50-word Challenge - This is an interesting challenge and very challenging to say the least. You only get fifty words to tell a story or a vignettes. Here is a great post that will explain the difference between the two concepts. Good luck, Brave Story Writer!

Jajaja 😊

You Have Sent 0.700 SBD to @sezenke yesterday. and you get a bid vote from her $0.05 and you get resteemed from her not more than 100 voters.

hmmmm....

I noticed that too.

I’m curious to know how @sezenke is going to make sure I get 100 upvotes from her, being that it was in the add. I consistently have about 12-16 people upvoting me without her so where are the rest of the upvotes? hmm...

Arghh - a mouse running up the nightgown - Yuck!!

It only wants to play with you.

This post was spotted by @theluvbug and has received a 100% upvote and possibly a resteem too.
