Each time his head was rolled back into the restraints. He was surprised that it didn't really hurt anymore. They had started out with a wrench, but someone stepped in and made them switch to something made of wood. With one swollen eye and the other so full of mucus it was hard to tell what the object was.

thwack

Maybe it was a bat.

thwack

No, too small to be a bat.

"Has he cracked yet?"

"No, I guess he's made of pretty strong stuff."

"Well, what did he have on him?"

"Just a cell phone, a wallet with some cash, but no ID, and he refused to give us his pin to unlock the phone and-"

"What the hell are you doing!?" a voice with some authority cut in.

"We're going to make him talk, boss."

"We're not the mob, you idiot! This isn't how we do things!" And then to their captive, "I don't know who you are, or what you know, maybe you were in the wrong place at the wrong time, but if you cooperate we'll get you to a hospital before you lose that eye. It looks pretty bad."

After a brief pause, he continued, "Hey, can you hear me?"

"Mrf.. garb.. nereffnit..." and he trailed off.

"What was that? I can't hear you. Are, are you having a stroke? Damnit, un-tie him!"

"Mrf... mrf.. milling dog!"

"What's he saying?"

"Mrf.. basset hog..."

"Untie him, now!"

The restraints fell noiselessly to the floor. One of the goons leaned closer. "What was that buddy?"

"Feet. Feet, soft as fog..." and he slumped forward, losing consciousness.

Great job!!!!!!!! Love how you found a good place for the prompt!

I was actually a little worried I was drifting away from the concept of free write based on a prompt, but this prompt actually brought the story back around to a situation that would fit it instead of the story being so generic that any prompt could be dropped in.
