These myths were heard and spread by words of mouth so I really do not know the very root of where it came from and who was the first person that said it. Here are some seversl myths:
MYTH 1: When watching a flying helicopter, you should always be careful and observant to see the movement of a crew inside or someoje who is sitting at the rear near the door. This person is the one holding the machine gun and just one sneeze from that person will pull the trigger of the weapon he is holding. So be alert always.
MYTH 2. If the helicopter is flying around the area, it means that they are spotting for something on the ground. Mayne an enemy so be sure to make a snap salute always everytime it passes by. Hahah!
MYTH 3. If the helicopter is a flying bit low, make sure to wave your hands and smile so the people aboard can see you amd recognize you as a civilian and this gesture will prevent them to open fire. So always make your best hand wave and wear your best smile. Hahah!
MYTH 4. If there is a helicopter flying above you, you should always take of your cap or hat so they can recognize you as friendlies. Hahaha!
MYTH 5. We were trying to pull a slingshot loaded with stone and aim to a helicopter that passes by over the air. We just want to try if we can put that helicopter down by aiming the propeller. After all, in our innocemt mind, a helicopter is just like any kind of bird that flies. Lol!
So how about in your country or place? What childhood myths have you remembered everytime you saw a helicopter flying around?
Anyway, now that I am an adult. I fully understood that those myths are just products of imagination of innocent and naive children influenced by some jest of adults and the multi mediw specially telvision amd radio in the early 80's and 90's. I now fully understand that this kind of transportation is a product of advance techonoly in this modern era and there is nothing to worry about if only humanity will use it for the goodness of mankind.
That's all folks!

Those myths sound almost too real... the thought of it made me shudder. I can only imagine the kids who hear it and live it...
And I had no helicopter myths growing up...

Oh, that must have been scary as a kid to see an helicopter - and it would be nice if people would use them for good only.
Btw. Jerry Banfield is not a witness anymore. If you have a vote open, I suggest @enginewitty. He is very supportive of the freewriters and a lot of other people.
these helicopter myths are like telling horror stories and urban legends of local super heroes and villains that kids seems to enjoy the feeling of having a butterfly in the stomach and the chilling effect of their wild imagination while listening to the said stories so there is really nothing to be seriously scared off.
Kids from my hometown still continue to tell stories such as this by just the word of mouth and i hope to write it one by one in the near future here and share it in this community. :)
oopps this is a bit long reply . hehehe.
anyway i have just voted @enginewitty as a witness... :)
