John and Mary were the best skiers on the team.
The slalom would be coming up in two weeks time.
One of them was a lock to win.
They were very competitive people.

They also happened to be brother and sister.
John spent all his time practicing. He didn't have a lot of hobbies outside of school.
It wasn't necessarily that he liked to ski......it's just that it was all he knew how to do.
Mary downright hated it.
Their parents had been professional skiers and they made them practice every day since they were little kids.
Both of them had been planning to quit when they were about 12.
That was the year that their parents had died in an unfortunate accident.
They felt obligated to keep going, to keep skiing, to keep practicing all the time.
Sure enough now they were the best.
Being the best at something that you love is a really great thing.
Being the best at something you can't stand doing though? That can be a problem.
John won that slalom and Mary came in second place.
They just kept on skiing, and practicing, and skiing, and practicing as if there were some meaning to it all.
They were caught in a trap of their own obligations.
It was a trap that they made themselves though.
Their parents would never have wanted them to do something that they couldn't stand doing though. In fact, if their parents had still been alive they would have insisted they quit skiing if they knew how much they hated it.
Don't let yourself get caught in the trap of obligation.
Do whatever makes you happy.

So true. I think to many times, we do things just because we think it's what others want us to do. Maybe not to this extreme, though. Then again, they made their choice. That ostrich, though. 😂

Greta write up, I personally things being fairly good at something you love is better than being the best at something you dont enjoy
Love that ostrich gif LOL
Doing something you love is much better than doing something you don't enjoy even if you suck at doing it if you ask me.
Yes I do fully agree
