5-Minute Freewrite Prompt: Eyebrows

Jane was born with just one eyebrow. Not to say she is short of one eyebrow but the other one is very rare and faint, so much so that when anyone sees her, she looks as if she only had one eyebrow on her right.

She was laughed at and labeled as a "freak", especially among the girls in school. High school was a tough time for Jane. She would grow her hair long one side to cover the left side of her face. She never keep a fringe. She never look at the boys at all and always tried to look down so she would not get ridiculed further. Her cousin sister, who is for her, tried to encourage her and gave her the best thing ever - an eyebrow pencil on her 15th birthday. She taught Jane how to shape and draw the eyebrow by herself. Jane was so grateful. Since then, she could finally tie up her hair.

One day, Jane had to go for swimming class as it was part of the Physical Education program. She loves swimming because that's the only time she felt as free as a fish. She went in the pool, forgetting that her eyebrow pencil was not waterproof! When she came out of the pool, there was this handsome guy right in front of her, Dave whom she had been secretly crushing on. She said hi. He was nice and he talked with her for a long time. During this whole time, she noticed that he kept looking at her left face, then he would be looking at her right, which it finally dawned upon her, "OH NOOOO!" Jane remembered her missing eyebrow and she ran off just like that.

She felt deeply embarrassed but Dave called her that very night. "Hey Jane, I got your number from someone, hope you don't mind. Er... Sorry if you caught me staring at your eyebrows. That must have been very rude of me. But I think they are kinda cute."

"Cute?! Don't you think I look like a freak without one?"

"No, absolutely not. You should see mine is so much that both eyebrows look as if they are one. I hated it too. People should call me freak, instead of you."

Jane laughed. Years later, they got married and have a child. Till this day, Dave still always tells Jane how beautiful she is, with and without her eyebrows, but he likes her especially when one is visible and the other isn't. Though she knows she can tattoo an eyebrow on, she never do it because she had grown to be secure with herself. Do you want to take a guess on how do the eyebrows of the child look like?
