@fitinfun

I have two favorites this week from the "contour" prompt.

I like the way @darthgexe is creating a story relating to splinterlands. A lot of double dipping in this fun and exciting tale. I do not play the game, or know too much about it, but I am glad to see this creativity come out of it. Good use of "contour" too!

And @whatisnew has a more poignant story of how writing and photography can brings us out of sadness. Isn't that what art is supposed to do? Take us to another place? This story and the photos will all stay with me for some time to come.

@kaerpediem

When I read this story over the weekend, I already knew that this would be my pick.

Betty and Danny, two familiar characters, looking for love in all the wrong places. Or did love just leave them in a shell of a relationship. I felt for both of them. Who's fault is it? Was one more wrong than the other? Or do broken people just gravitate towards one another, hoping for a fix only to break into smaller pieces. A Weekend FreeWrite can be tricky. And again @felt.buzz shows off his story telling skills, 3 Prompts, 2 Characters, 1 Scene. Go have a read:

@freewritehouse, Kindly find the below Freewrite piece which is shared by @d00k13.

In Ideas Worth Spreading freewrite @d00k13 came up with some effective questions and these questions tells us that we have to question ourselves before doing anything because doing without knowing leads nowhere.
Keep up the awesome work team and stay blessed.

@marblely

My favourite this week is @mrscwin's Buds For Life - Weekend Freewrite 8.4.2019. I loved how each of the weekendfreewrite prompts were seamlessly and cleverly weaved into this beautiful story about a lifelong friendship of one buddy saving the life of another who was about to commit suicide. Life can be tough and it is friendships like these that help one get through the challenges that come. Buds for life indeed.

@wakeupkitty

My nomination for this week is written by my friend @angelro. He used the prompt contour for his "My 5-minute freewrite CONTOUR". After he read mine he thought "Why can't I?" He acted and wrote his first freewrite and proved he did even a better job as I! What I like about his freewrite is that he proved it is not hard to write for 5 minutes and there is no need to write a short story to present a good read.

@owasco

Oh goody I thought it was Friday and the jig was up already! Here's my three:
First, @mgaft1 blew me away with their (preferred pronoun please) existential freewrite for contour that ended with
I am but a contour, a contour in the middle of the vastness of nothingness.
Check it out!

Note from Carol: they mention geometry and algebra! Sssh, don't tell, but this is one "extra" way to get @owasco's attention!

Next, dear @kaelci with

Don't run inside the house dear - Little did she know she was about to be obliterated. Imagination? For keeps? You read it and decide.

I wish I COULD read them all, but alas time does not allow that. My third "favorite" was by @deeanndmathews

Note from Carol: Here is the next installment
Day 656: 5 Minute Freewrite: Wednesday - Prompt: contour

Even though this is just one of quite a few installments in her continuing story, about which she waxes and never ever wanes (read her comments to me), it's a nice tidy morality tale all on its own.

That's it for this week! Thanks to all who participate in freewrites. They are the BEST.

And now for some extras!

I've pillaged the comments sections for some of these. Let's just say @carolkean is nominating these.

@fitinfun
breaks my heart week after week,but she also informs, educates, enlightens, and entertains. I'm getting ready to review her book on No More Excuses for Obesity. But first, her comments on seed-saving, on" failing" to learn from her mother, and thinking her mom would be disappointed if she could see her today? {{{Hugs!}}}

@felixgarciap
reminds us of what ONLY FIVE MINUTES of freewriting can yield. This has a Twilight Zone vibe that I love, and with more than five-ish minutes to develop and expand the story, this could be epic. As it is, I love the concept, and I want more. I want a friend like John. :)

@owasco
will be past payout with her first attempt at a we-write, which morphed into a freewrite based on the prompt "Creature," but it's still worth reading:

I tried to find Wil Stewart @wilstewart3, but got a "No Such Page" when I clicked.

@sacra97
offers us a Spanish freewrite. I have no idea what it says (dare I trust Google's hilariously inept Translate option?), but I love the idea that this is a teenager's first freewrite, so I'll support that!

Speaking of Spanish freewrites, don't miss this edition of Literary Talent Awards:

English, Spanish, and German (ok, maybe not this month) nominees are listed in this post. For now, I will excerpt on this little teaser:

Español
I don’t speak Spanish. Sorry. So I will use google to translate this. I do hope it doesn’t say anything rude like “@mariannewest smells like boiled cabbage” when I am really trying to say “congratulations to our winners!”.

There were 4 entries and they were judged by @latino.romano
No hablo español Lo siento. Entonces usaré google para traducir esto. Espero que no diga nada grosero como "@mariannewest huele a col hervida" cuando realmente estoy tratando de decir "¡felicidades a nuestros ganadores!".

Thank you for nominating,

everyone, and thank you for reading, upvoting, resteeming, and social media sharing!

Why is this posting early?

@carolkean's grandkids are arriving today for a four-day weekend!
You have until the end of the day Thursday to nominate a Freewrite. If I find more later on, I will edit this post to add them. Thank you.

Oops. I wondered what had happened to a copy/paste/hyperlink/center. Somehow it turned up at the very bottom of the post. And I did the whole thing over from scratch. LOL! Next reason I find to use the ol' "Edit" option, I'll delete the redundancy. For now, bread is in the oven (the beloved aroma is killing me! I can't find a gluten-free, dairy-free, allergen-free bread yet that is worth eating), and the grankids are ON THEIR WAY (running a wee bit late).

Wishing you an amazing time with the grand-kiddos <33

Aw, thank you!!!! They're so full of energy and bring so much to fill the quiet of the "Empty Nest."

Thank you very much for the continued support. Best regards.

Have a great weekend with the grandkids Carol. I can smell the bread baking, Yum!

I am soooooo tired right now. Two nights of disrupted sleep. Three+ days of nonstop activity and commotion. It's all good... except my headache. This too shall pass. I'll miss them of course, all too soon.

Yes. They're still here. The parents departed asap Friday morning. :)

I hear ya! I had my 2 grandsons for the weekend a month ago and it took me a week to recover. LOL! I hope your headache goes away real soon.

The noise, the commotion, the energy levels, the way your attention is consumed - I was born a quiet introvert--it was noisy with four sisters, and I spent most of my childhood in a corner reading books. I still like reading, quietly, on a porch swing. There is loneliness, to be sure, but I seem unwilling to pay my dues and go get a part-time job or .... well, I did try volunteering, but that didn't go over so well. (Long story. In short, I was a tactless but well-meaning "whistle blower" of sorts, composing a 3-page list of needed improvements at this hospital...)

Wonderful selections everyone! 💕
