Why do I picked California as the weekend prompt?
Simple, it has a memorial place for me as my first trip to the States of America landed at San Francisco in California. That was in 1980 or 1981 when I had a company trip to Motorola Head Office Austin, Arizona. During those years, I worked for Motorola Malaysia and was send to Ohio, Columbus to witness a Power Conditioner commissioning. And I had the permission to visit the Motorola factory in Austin.
That was the first time I travel outside Asia to almost the furthest country from my homeland, Malaysia. I was young and naive and to certain extend, never been to a developed country. I travel with my colleague and after we have visited the Power Conditioner Factory in Ohio, and Motorola factory n Austin, we planned to stay on to visit several places. WE hired a small Pontiac car and drive along the coastal road to visit places such as Las Vegas, San Francisco, Disney Land in in Anaheim, San Diego and the border city of Mexico.
California is one of the largest state the States of America. It is located on the East coast with a long stretch of beaches. Perhaps it has one the world most beautify beaches in the world. But we did not have enough time to spend at each places we visited.
Out of curiosity, we tried to locate a "nude beach" along the way and managed to find one. But the beach was almost nobody around. We could have went to the wrong beach.
Another encounter we had was about food. Back home in Malaysia, we have plenty of food outlet till id night. But we could not find a regular food when we arrived the hotel San Francisco. It was only around 9 pm. During our own visits, we stay in some budget Inn to save cost. My colleague wanted to eat something for supper but could not find any food outlet. We ended up asking room service for help. We asked the attendance to buy some instant noodle for us. I think we gave hime $5 and he came back with noodle and drink and return us a $1 note plus a couple of coins. My colleague told the waiter keep the change, but he refused to move away. I hinted to my colleague that may be the tips was too little. Then my colleague give him another dollar, then only he left.
The funny thing is we saw a convenient store just at the ground floor in next to the Inn and there was a machine which has the same drink that the waiter bought for us. To be honest, we never see a machine with drinks indies,. ( Now I know it is called the drink vending machine ). It was totally new to us.
Anyway, that was my first trip and experience to overseas. California. Do you have an interesting trip story to tell?
Cheers

It is great if you can travel to country that you wish to. Just work for it and plan ahead
For me, it was due to my work environment that requires me to travel.
