Freelancing ... It Might Not Be For Everyone, But It Is Definitely For Me!
With one more Utopian.IO contribution out of the way, I sit here thinking to myself that this life really isn't that bad. I have been a hard working individual my entire life; always in a job where I was working for another person. After some time in the workforce, you might stop and wonder what you are doing busting your ass to push others to greatness while your hard work goes unnoticed.
Well, at least I know that is how I felt. I recently was laid off working for a startup that I worked to get off the ground. And trust me, they were in a BAD spot. Things were looking grim, and still are to be frank, because they had very little experience in programming, especially as it related to their business.
These individuals heavily relied on my skills and expertise, as well as my sheer determination and drive to see a project through. After a few years of this partnership, and, admittedly, quite a few raises, my job was severed at the drop of a hat. Why? Your guess is as good as mine when it really comes down to it. Employers often just do not care about their employees. There are many articles online aimed at HR departments and CEOs advising them how to put forth the perception of an accepting, loving environment when in reality they are spending a little extra money to ensure your ever lasting dependence.
I was on the inside track in the company and saw discussions amount to things like purchasing housing for trainees and helping them relocate far from another state to ensure they would have little options, or in fact none in the situation of a contract, when they wanted to move on. In my own contract, I had to fight and stand up for myself to shut down a noncompete clause that likely wouldn't have been legally upheld anyway.
The point of this long ramble I guess is to say that Steem is bringing forth a completely new possibility for at-home, remote income for anyone that can manage to sign up for a social site. Gone are the days where companies like Reddit and Twitter score MILLIONS of dollars in ads while the users contributing the content get crumbs. Gone are the days of Youtube strong arming users and blocking their payouts or censoring their commentary. The freedom the cryptocurrency world has enabled for the community is, without better words, FUCKING INSANE.
Cryptocurrency is the way of the future. You would do yourself a valuable service by purchasing however much you can afford whenever you can afford it. I would not be sitting here today, writing this to you, were it not for the absolute revolutionary technology that is cryptocurrency.
I hope to see each and every single one of you in our moon apartments.
Vote for @netuoso as Witness
... and let me guide your rocket ship to the moon!
Totally agree, discovered through resteem, will follow your utopian contributions and see how good a witness you are :-)
Completely agree brother that cryptocurrency has enabled something truly fucking insane for all of us. Also agree that cryptocurrency is the way of the future exciting times ahead. I upvoted and resteemed. :)
Great post! The incentives for working at a company are pretty much zero. The cryptocurrency incentives model is amazing and I think it will further lead to more innovation as well as a happier work force.
Beautiful Post well done
The world system is messed up.
I spent several years working as a teacher but I had to resign because I discovered that the job is designed to ensure that I work miserably for the rest of my life. And the only reasonable reward I would get for my services would be thank you(s) and applauses and thumbs up.
Yeah. I made sure to be cordial with my teachers when I could. They often have to spend their own money to get treated like shit.
PS: you just unvoted me for witness. If it was intentional carry on. If not, fix it :) lol much love
Really
Lol
That's funny
I thought I voted just now
I'll go and check it right away
I voted you for witness and I suggest that you put a link in your post where someone can click and easily get redirected to where they can vote you. Thank you sir
Man I hear you, I am so glad I moved on from a job to freelance work. I may not make as much money right now but the time I got is priceless. I think steem Blockchain and all of the beautiful projects that will spin off of the SMT makes now the best time to share our life’s work online. I wish you the very best. Keep free
Great post keep up the good work also if you want you can follow me and comment on my post so that you can receive more up votes from me.
Hell yeah! You are not alone in replacing some of your old fiat income with freelance steem income. The hard part for me is the fluctuations... it's tough to rely on steem when the price could be $1.50 or $0.75 two months from now and I have no idea which it will be.
That's why I have been working to find a balance, earn maybe 30% of my income from steems, and the rest elsewhere... Good stuff.
hehe yeah. Freelancing can be tough, but with crypto and Steemit, it had made it much easier for me to freelance and just do what I love to do.
Good article. My goal is to hopefully eventually earn my income in crypto. One reason for this is that I need to be able to move my funds easily between countries because I live away from my home country, but still have financial ties there (which I don't want to give up).
