I home-schooled my children, and my only regret is that I didn't begin sooner! We started out by toeing the line where the state was concerned, and then completely gave up trying after being harassed ... and we ended up "doing our own thing".
Two of the boys scored in the top 95% of the country in their SATs, and one went on to graduate from college Summa Cum Laude, and the other got a job in medical biochemistry right out of college.
Home-schooling is the absolute best thing you can do for your children - it's worth every bit of effort you put in.
Hello and thanks for your reply and what a reply, that is wonderful to hear your story truly inspirational. I will tell you a personal joyful moment when we first took our two children out of school, we went and took the dogs for a walk on the field near our house and it was the first day of home schooling, the children flung their arms in the air running through the wheat shouting we're free! What more could a parent ask for than the happiness of their children. They study academically and in all aspects of life, they act so differently to other children and i know why as i am sure you do to, it's often met with amazement from other parents or strangers that they know things and are happy and well mannered. Its a horrible thing to think of the damage the schools are doing now as they have all changed their modus operandi and become privatised. We have all been duped and mislead into bad practices and ways of thinking that are damaging to all of us. But some of us have irreversably changed and can never go back to old axioms of thought. Never more obvious than the American Common Core education system, but i imagine you are also aware of that too. Thanks for your comment and hopefully hear from you again. I will be writing or vlogging about my visit so keep an eye out for that one. Sean
