Our perceptions and understandings of everything are created by the environment we are born and live in and by a multitude of influences that exist in it. Our understandings and notions of freedom itself are not an exception.
I notice that very often the so-called freedom in our minds walks hand in hand with fear. Maybe it's the fear to lose one's ego, one's precious persona in the social world of human beings? Who knows, maybe that's the reason why our search and longing for freedom never goes beyond our frames of mind and limitations of the said persona which is scared not only of self-destruction, but even the slightest changes that come along with coming out of its comfort zone.
What if we try... try imagining for a moment that true personal freedom can come and stay only where there isn't a single shield, a single veil covering up whatever it is that we are so scared to change or even to reveal. What if freedom is reachable only in that state of being where you are not free to run away or hide in fear of losing "yourself" and are standing naked and vulnerable in front of your world, looking openly in the face of everything that you've been searching for... and everything that's been searching for You.
A bare, exposed feeling (not covered by the endless maneuvers for escape) is one of the keys.
