RE: What Gives Our Government the Right to Take Our Children?

in #freedom7 years ago

I was going to reply with a comment regarding newborn DNA screening in Australia.
Every child (unless the parents object) has a heel prick test, to test for rare diseases.
What parent wouldn't consent to checking if their precious bundle has a rare but serious problem?
What I don't recall being told is that they store our DNA forever, in a secure lab.
My DNA, my husbands and our children's has been stored. I learned this in a documentary. Perhaps I sighed or consented when they asked me if I wanted my baby checked for rare diseases.
Most data I can find relates to comforting parents regarding the temporary discomfort their baby may have when a needle is stuck in their heel. Interestingly can't find much about concerns about DNA storage and usage.

I was looking for an Australian link for you. There is a lot of information about the tests, but I couldn't find my state storage policy easily. What I did find was each state has different rules about storage.
I also found that other countries do the same. This is a medical journal from American paediatric assoc. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3065077/
