Greetings Steemitland!

Boy what a treat I have for you. There is something really special about Steemit. I continue to find myself trying and doing new things more on this platform than any other. It inspires me to learn about new perspectives and use my talents in innovative ways. I have never co-hosted a radio show, blogged, ran my own contest nor done interviews before I came to Steemit. I am so happy to be here. We played the audio for this interview over on the radio show I co-host, Voices from the Mountains, on our last show! We are broadcast over on @msp-waves radio and the show has been a blast. We go on every Saturday 3-5am UTC for anyone interested!

That being said, I have been intrigued by a completely different idea on how to govern ourselves, and a man who has a plan to end the unnecessary and coercive federal government. I have heard of voluntaryism before years ago and was intrigued by it, but the person who I discovered this view from was, to be blunt, a complete militant asshole. I shouldn't have let that stop me from further pursuing this view, but I am glad that I discovered @adamkokesh, because he was much more versed in the philosophy of this ethical principle, and more likable.

I learned about Adam through a resteem somewhere, and immediately downloaded his book Freedom. I soon after learned he was going to be only a couple hours away from me in a week, and reached out to schedule an interview. I thought these ideas were worth spreading, and I wanted to learn more about them from him directly. I felt like I am coming from a place of the "common citizen" politically, and wanted some straight answers to some relatively basic questions (Libertarian vs. Voluntaryist vs. Anarchist, internal debates, possible ways to dismantle the government etc). I've long given up on the government, but didn't realize there was a party that intends to basically end government. What is scary to a lot of people about anarchism, is that people associate that with chaos. One thing that resonated with me from this interview in regards to that, is when Adam says (paraphrasing a bit)"

"When we talk about anarchy as wanting to seek a state of no government, it's not no institutions of governance, it's no institutions of coercive violence."

This is an important concept to understand when considering these philosophical views. There are plenty of governmental agencies we as a people do not (and should not) consent to having in existence, and because they serve no purpose as far as we can see, should not exist. In my mind it really does break down to being this simple: a society free of coercion and force, yet completely self governed voluntarily and consensually, is what "freedom" truly means.

I hope you enjoy this interview! I wanted to ask good questions and was very intrigued by these ideas, so hopefully this can help you get a better understanding of these concepts if they are new to you. I love what Adam is doing, and think it's so important to get the word out. Regardless of what happens with his run for the Libertarian party, the work he is doing with his book bomb and spreading this message are insurmountable.
