Isn't it High time Religion became obsolete?

Here we are again, picking up yet another controversial topic to talk about. I guess its just Nihilism taking the wheel every time I'm looking for a subject to write about on here.

Religion was very relevant back in the day, it was something that was born out of a need to keep people going on, during the darker times, when the majority of the population was not able to educate themselves and be aware about the things in their surroundings and reason with nature. A minority that had the power and authority over lands and groups of people saw this as an opportunity to keep the oppressed stay that way, so they could take advantage of their sad, non reasoning and blind belief in things such as god, supernatural occurrences, curses, monsters, witches and what not.

Religion originally sought to be a basic form of education and method of Imparting Knowledge to the people, but it was twisted into something used to oppress them instead. To this day, it is being abused in ways one would call in humane, but there is nothing that can be done about it because the ones that "believe" are so far gone down that spiral, anything you say or do would make them turn on you and antagonize you.

Its stupid how we are letting religion keep us from progressing as societies. There are parts of the globe, even in the current world where if You aren't a believer, your life in that said society gets a lot harder that it should be, because the people there are so orthodox and hardwired to think in ways that prevents them form listening to your reasons behind the choice of choosing not to believe in something that the rest of that society believes in so strongly.

I think it is high time we renounce religion if not completely, at least to an extent where it no longer poses a threat to progress and not cause conflicts among communities with a mix of 2 or more religious groups. It's not like Humanity has nothing left for it to, go on. I religion were to completely disappear one fine day. While saying this so bluntly, I know that it is nearly impossible for us to see said day, its almost like vegans wanting everyone to go vegan or for world peace to be a real thing, but maybe someday someone will come up with something ridiculous enough for people to believe in and forget about religion altogether and for the ones relevant this day to take their place among the ancient egyptian, greek and Njord mythos, and them to turn into yet another interesting subject for artists to dwell into and no more than that.
