Education is free, but that's because we've invested time and energy in educating ourselves.

I used to say "Education is free, it is getting that 'Sheepskin" that is not. But I have to say your quoted sentence is a contradiction. Education is NOT free if it takes time and energy to get that education. but i do agree with your premise.
