You make your way uphill. It is quite covered in brush, thick tree roots, and the stench of decay. The further you walk the less light that penetrates the tree canopies above you. A gust of cold breeze makes the hair on the back of your neck stand on end. You march forward regardless.

According to the directions you were following up till this point of having to go it on foot you should have been getting close. This was not the vacation you were hoping to have. At least it was dead silent and not a sound would fright you as you took one step ahead of another.

The forest slowly played tricks on your mind. While it was quite the faintest of lighting breaking in would cast shadows near the corner of your vision. Making you wonder if you had just seen something or nothing at all.

For a moment you thought you might have been followed. If you were being followed you would have heard the footprints after waiting around for a short while. Right? It must just be the shadows being elongated by the tree branches above. The tree branches were knotted like an old fishing rope.

Eventually, you notice an opening ahead of you along a trail. You head even deeper in and see a grand house. It must have been from the late 1920s. Veins are covering the bricks of the house. All the windows are still intact and covered in dust. It must have been many years since light has passed through them.

You come to a gate for the backyard. Do you open the gate or go back and search for another way?
