You decided to go inside the house. You turn the doorknob and the door is unlocked. The door is quite heavy and hard to push open. The door and floorboards over the years have swollen. The door makes an ear-piecing screech sound but you manage to get it open wide enough to slip inside.
Once inside you are greeted by an immaculate staircase that branches off to the left and right across multiple different floors of the house. The old wooden staircase banister has millions of tiny holes from insects burying and eating away at it over the decades.
The entryway itself was covered in faded tapestry on every single wall as far as the eye could see. The pictures depicted what you could have sworn were Knights Templar. Many of the symbols depicted red crosses and armor you would go out in battle on during the crusades.
The floors were quite dusty and dirty. That however did not prevent the travertine stone tiles from showing their dated elegance. You got a feeling someone important used to live in this house. They must have had wealth beyond imagination to have all this in the middle of nowhere.
You look further on and it appears the house had undergone a few renovations over the decades. In a not-so-elegant fashion power lines for lighting had been run down certain parts of the walls for outlets or light switches. There were also pipping for what you can only assume to be the heating system for the house.
There were also fancy matching wooden tables. They had carvings depicting foxes, wolves, and something you had never seen before. You dragged your finger across the table leaving a thick line from clearing all the dust that was on the table.
Finally, your eyes took notice of a red embroidered chair. It looked as soft as snow and as red as the day it was created. It was made out of Ebony wood with strange carved symbols on it. You have never seen something more experience in your life.
You thought to yourself for a moment surely no one would notice if you took the chair and sold it. Then again you were stranded in the middle of nowhere and at this point quite lost. The chair would have been too heavy to drag back to town let alone do anything else with it.
You decided it was time to look around the house elsewhere. Maybe you could find a bike, gas can, or a working phone so you could get out of here. You decided to skip going up the staircase for the time being.
Do you go into a room that is too dark to see in or towards the back of the house where a kitchen appears to be?
