An amateur league club in Sakarya province of Turkey paid part of the transfer fee in Bitcoins.
The club's president, Haldun Şehit says that this is the first time that Bitcoin is used to pay for football player transfer fees.
Harunustaspor signed a contract with Ömer Faruk Kırıkıoğlu for the seond half of the football season. The president offered 0.052 bitcoins and 500 dollars to the player as the payment for this season.
Haldun Şehit stated that they "carried out this transaction in order to be the first in the world. If one of the professional clubs did this first, it would be in TV news. We are proud for that too."
