Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has been named as the leader of the American football league, who will face Real Madrid on August 2.
Schweinsteiger, who joined the Chicago Fire this season, has more votes than Spanish forward David Villa and US goalkeeper Tim Howard (Colorado Rapids).
Since arriving at the Chicago Fire, the German midfielder has become one of the best players in the team, who are second in the standings with 38 points behind leaders Toronto.
Schweinsteiger scored twice in the Chicago Fire, making him one of the leading players in the US team led by Serbia's Veliko Bounovic, who will also run the star match against Royal.
The match will take place on Wednesday in Chicago at the Fielder Field, the US-based Bears stronghold.
