The Salvador defender Henri Romero has been suspended for six games by the Confederation of North, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF) after being "bitten" by United States striker Josie Tidor.
El Salvador captain Darren Serene was also suspended for three games for a similar incident.
Romero was caught in the back of the cross with Altidor in the back, while American defender Omar Gonzalez was biting in the second half of the quarter-finals.
CONCACAF said the penalty was due to "unsportsmanlike behavior" but would apply only to official matches.
