What a happy day for Nigerians as the Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated Iceland 2-0 in their second match of the fifa 2018 world cup.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria recovered nicely from a 2-0 loss to Croatia in their first match by defeating the Icelandic Nation in a tough encounter. The first half saw a poor display from Nigeria, registering 0 shot and 0 shot on target, the second half however started well has the Super Eagles of Nigeria changed their style of play, pressuring the Icelandic team before registering there first goal in the 49' min before cementing it with their second in the 75' min. Both goals coming from Ahmed Musa, the country's top scorer in the Fifa World Cup competition.

Prior to this game, Nigeria has had a fair history with European sides in the world cup. Winning 4 and losing 4. With their last victory against an European side coming against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 2014 world cup in Brazil.

Gernot Rohr's side now need a victory over old nemesis Argentina in Saint Petersburg to reach the last 16 for the fourth time in their history. The wounded South America rival will prove a tough test considering their history with Nigeria. With Nigeria loosing four times in their last four meetings in the world cup.

A defeat to the Albiceleste would confirm their elimination, a draw would mean they require Croatia to do them a favour against Iceland.

As it stands, Croatia is safe and through. While the remaining group D teams still stand a fighting chance. Nigeria will fancy their chances to make Africa proud with Egypt and Morroco mathematically already out and Tunisia unlikely to make out of their group. The Nigeria side will seek to compile misery against the Argentina side considering their poor showing in the world cup(with 3-0 loss to Croatia).

Nigeria will look to break the jinx against the south Americans in their next match. Their last international meeting saw the Africa side defeat the South America side, Argentina loosing 4-2 in that one. Nigeria will be looking for a repeat of that one come 7:00pm BST (2:00pm ET) on Tuesday June 26 when the two sides clash.

Do you fancy Nigeria qualifying from this group.
Bearing in mind Argentina might be coming out to hunt like the wounded lion.

It's sure going to be a tough encounter but i see the Nigeria side edging out in a win or draw if they play as a team

If they play as a team, true they can erk out a good result.
