RE: Shifting the dead wood

in #football6 years ago

My uncle is a spurs fan like myself and he comes out with these questions ? Ones like if a tree falls in a woods and noone is around to hear it ..... you get the gist. So when i told him that Utd were interested in Trippier he asked the question . Did Trippier just have a bad season or was he ever any good? I actually paused for thought. Bad season I think. He is still a bomber foing forward, he just made a load of mistakes in important games. Is he the new Kyle Walker. City seem to he getting away with it. Disappointed about Edwards. Jannsen had a great game against the hammers last season. Still dudnt score. Did you see Foyth send Coutiniho for a hotdog in the copa america ?

Sort:

If Vincent Janssen scores in training for the U-23s and no one is around to see it, does it count as a goal? A philosophical question for him to ponder while he sits in the stands ......

I think Trippier could still play a part at Spurs and yes it was a bad season probably not helped by the injury/fatigue he suffered post World Cup . Ultimately he is a different style of player to Kyle Walker and I think he and the team would benefit from having a Walker type player in the squad that they could rotate him with - Trippier would probably be better against sides who sit deep and allow us to dominate possession, while a real speedster like Walker allows us to play on the break with a higher press. Serge Aurier isn't really an able replacement for either.

I just love Coutinho's reaction after he gets skinned. He knows that hundreds of millions of people are going to watch him be made a prat of :-)

Kind of reminds me of this from Dele Alli - let's hope Foyth can go on to have the kind of break through season that Dele did following that!
