Big football games this weekend!

in #football7 years ago

With the weekend getting underway there are quite a few tasty fixtures that should wet the appetite of a true football fan. In the this post I will just go over a few games that I think will be both entertaining with the football that some of the teams play and of course the rivalry between certain teams.

The first fixture that has to be mentioned this weekend is none other than the Der Klassiker. This game to me is probably the most important in terms of the biggest German teams battling it out in what has become the benchmark for all the Bundisliga to look up to. I do rate the Revierderby between Dortmund and Schalke very highly but this fixture between Bayern and Dortmund just always seems very high class in terms of football. Not to mention the fact that Dortmund desperately need the win in the game in order to try and leapfrog Schalke who currently sit in 2nd place, one point ahead of Dortmund. My score prediction for this game unfortunately has to be 2-1 to Bayern Munich and I say unfortunately because I have always had a soft spot for Dortmund for some unknown reason.

The second game that I really looking forward to this weekend is Sevilla vs Barcelona. This game in theory should have everything. The beautiful slick passing from Barcelona and the hunger and will to try and topple the best in the league from Sevilla. Of course with Sevilla being the home team they are likely to try and get a result for their team whether that's the win or holding out for a draw. Either result would be massive for Sevilla, however with the form that Barcelona are currently in with them not losing in La Liga so far this season things don't bode well for Sevilla. My prediction is 3-0 to Barcelona.

The third game I'm looking forward to this weekend has to be the Italian clash between Juventus and AC Milan. Of course this game isn't anything spectacular in terms of league positioning or anything like that with Juventus sitting in 1st and AC Milan in 6th however the enticing thing about this match is the way AC Milan will play. Will we see the continuing good league form from AC Milan that essentially reignited their season under Gattuso, or will we see them fall apart like they did in the Europa League against Arsenal? I think Gattuso will get his players fired up for this one. My score prediction is a generous one to AC Milan with a 2-2 draw being the final result.

The fourth game that I'm looking forward to this weekend is the Coupe de la Ligue Final between PSG and AS Monaco of course the best two teams in France duking it out with a trophy on the line sounds like an enticing fixture however this season Monaco haven't been at there recent best and on the flipside to this PSG have remained as dominant as ever. Neymar most likely wont be playing in this game as he is not yet fit from his recent injury, but with the quality that PSG possess I expect them to win their 8th Coupe de la Ligue in this game. I would like the final result to go to penalties however I think a 1-0 or 2-1 to PSG seems the more likely result.

The next game I'm looking forward to is an interesting one as it is the first ever El Trafico between the Los Angeles Galaxy and the Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC). Obviously the derby name is a little bit of fun with Los Angeles being renowned for having horrible traffic. This being LAFC's first season along with the fact that Zlatan Ibrahimović has just sign with the Galaxy makes this first ever derby between the two very significant in terms of the MLS and its mainstream future in the country. Honestly I have no idea which way this game is going to go. LAFC have been impressive so far with 2 wins from 2 games so they have my vote of confidence for this game. Hoping for a lot of goals and a 3-2 win to LAFC.

And the final game of the weekend that I'm looking forward to has to be Chelsea vs Tottenham from the English Premier League (Of course I had to throw at least one in). This is an important game for both teams with Chelsea sitting just behind Tottenham in 5th place they will likely do anything to get the win here and move to within 2 points of their London rival. Tottenham could very easily also win this game so it has to be a flip of a coin. Chelsea have a striker problems their is no denying that along with a lack of confidence in their manager at the moment as well. Chelsea need to win but I think Tottenham will be happy with a draw, final result 1-1.

Thanks for the share @auspiciousaussie and its my sons that keep me updated on all this, I just sit and watch the matches and pray my team wins, that being LIVERPOOL...

I am in Spain at the minute and my son the Liverpool supporter and the other being a MAN/United fan will be avidly watching the Chelsea and Tottenham game.

Fingers crossed for spurs as I remember back to Chelsea parking the bus when they played Liverpool in a game some time back (not sure which game) and I haven't forgiven them since, so yeah C'mon Tottenham-- now where's my rattle and scarf.. LOL Take care @racykacy

That's crazy that your sons support rival clubs I bet the United vs Liverpool games get a little bit crazy sometimes. Me personally I support Arsenal so I'm hoping Chelsea manage to get one over Spurs. Enjoy Spain!

To be honest @auspiciousaussie although supporting rival teams they are okay with it, it's me that's the hooligan and more so, if my M/United son says anything wrong about Steven Gerrad.. It just gets better because half of my family in Bradford support the Gunners so when they play Liverpool the gloves are off between me and them, of course depending on the outcome of the game at the time. LOL Take care @racykacy
