The concept of Mala Hot Pot is the diner will choose from a wide variety of ingredients to be wok-fried in their Mala spicy sauce and to go with the white rice. Some of the common ingredients are pork, chicken, beef, Chinese sausage, vegetables and etc.
The stall’s concept is similar to Yong Tau Foo, so you have to select the ingredients you want, the difference is that you have the options to pick the level of spiciness you prefer (non-spicy, mildly spicy, spicy and very spicy).
We tried the non-spicy flavour.
Ri Ri Hong Mala Hot Pot is one of the first Mala Hot Pot eateries in Singapore. This stall lies in the heart of People’s Park Food Centre. It was popular and a lot of people queuing because of their generous servings and low prices.
A lot of people queuing but their service is quite okay. We just queue for about 15 minutes.
The place is a minute’s walk away from Chinatown MRT station, so you can get here easily. The environment is non-air-conditioned place but a lot of electric fans installed.
It was a very nice experience and we will surely come back again to try the spicy flavor.
