Making cured salmon or gravlax at home is one of the easiest things to prepare. With 5 ingredients and 48 hours, you can have fresh gravlax at home for a fraction of the cost that you would buy it for at the store (I did the math, I spend 1/8th the price when I make it at home!).
Start with a fillet of salmon and cut it in half.
Coat all sides of the fish with a very generous helping of one part salt to one part sugar. Place dill sprigs and lemon slice on the fish, stack the two fillets on top of each other and wrap tightly in plastic wrap.
Place the plastic wrapped salmon on a plate and put in the fridge.
After 48 hours, unwrap the salmon, rinse off and pat dry. You now have fresh salt cured lox! Slice and enjoy!
