My failed attempts at being a greener fingered mummy!

in #food9 years ago (edited)

To try and encourage my little lady into eating her greens, I thought it wise to attempt to grow my own fruit and vegetables.... I read every how to guide available and planted my seeds as per the instructions in the spring.

So today was the day that I thought it a good time to use my potatoes.... after spending about £30 on compost and feed and lovingly pruning my potatoes on a daily basis, i expected big things. The crop certainly looked promising on the outside:

And thats where the good news ended......

Theres definately a potato famine in my house..... i think in the future ill stick to the day job!!!

Think I'll go to spend my hard earned steem on a sack of spuds from the supermarket!!

As for my strawberries..... where should I start.... I'm sure there should be a plant emerging after 3 months....

O I can relate to this

Glad its not just me then! I'll give it another go next year..... maybe my strawberries will come out with the summer next year!!

Best of luck - I am sticking to succulents

At least you got a few! Maybe they needed a little more time. If I remember mine took quite awhile.

I think you're right...... i thought because they were quite bushy that they must be ready...... they're tiny though!!! I'll leave them longer next time... prehaps trim the bush?!

I don't think you need to trim them at all. I did mine in a bucket. I didn't leave enough room to hill them properly, but I got a few handfuls. Better luck to both of us next time.
