!
Yorkshire pudding which may have come from the Yorkshire area , but a Hannah Glasse wrote a recipe in 1747 and it was termed Yorkshire Pudding , though it was firstly named as " Dripping Pudding " , hmm does not sound so nice ! Though it's name has pudding in it, it is not classed as a pudding , but these days you can eat it not just for a Sunday roast but as a dessert add ice cream , chocolate etc.
Yorkshire pud's are made from eggs, flour water or milk.In the 1700's it was dished up a has a first course , swimming in gravy so guests would fill up on it , and thus eating less of the expensive meat in the second course ! but if the family was very poor the Yorkshire pudding was the only meal.
There was also made from fat drippings from meat , somewhere there probably still do that !!
Americans call Yorkshire pudding -popover's.
Frozen food makers " Aunt Bessie " make quite a lot Yorkshire puddings oh about 20 million a week !!! and it's based in Hull - a nice little fact !
According to posh people Yorkshire pudding's should only be served with roast beef no other meat , well I for one will not go by that rule !
To be classed a proper Yorkshire pud it has to be at least 4 inches high.
Yorkies and York puds are a slang term for Yorkshire puddings.
If you have a spare £ 500 , don't invest it in anything - get a York pud made from some sort of black truffle, beer fed Dexter beef fillet and gold leaf , hmm I will stay away from that one!
A top supermarket bought out a Yorkshire pudding pizza basically it was a pudding with pizza topping on it , I can imagine the filling is thick gooey cheese though.
Well tuck in folks , if you never tried one you must it a delightful taste bud experience !!
I will have mine with a veggie roast please x
