Cucumbers were probably first pickled 4400 years ago (2400 B.C.E.) in Mesopotamia (Terebelski and Ralph 2003)
they are widely known in Central and Eastern Europe not only in Russia :)

I ate a whole jar of cucumbers for breakfast without vodka. Next time i will try with bottle of stolichnaya
