RE: More Butcher Box Adventures: Grilled Strip Steak

in #food6 years ago

Oh, that looks good. I've heard of butcher box and would like to try, but I prefer to choose what cuts of meat I like each month. Bacon for Life is amazing. Glad you took up cooking. I've always enjoyed it and always fun to eat something you made!

Sort:

I chose a mixture box, which came with beef, chicken, and pork. All of it was good, but I've already switched so that my next box will be all beef. I can get good chicken anywhere, and I prefer beef to pork in general. You can actually customize the boxes, but being new to cooking meat, my goal was to just be sent random cuts, and have to figure out how to cook them.

The price seems worth it to me considering the quality and taste of the meat. It's cheaper than going to, say, Whole Foods or stores like that. In time, I'll learn which cuts I prefer and may opt to just start seeking a local butcher. Or maybe I'll do a little of each.

If you already know what you prefer and have access to it locally, I wouldn't suggest that you need Butcher Box by any means. If you just want to try out some really nice meat, it's worth a shot. The bacon they sell is delicious, too. It's thicker cut, but not super thick. Sugar-free, uncured, super fresh tasting.

As for cooking, I've been cooking for a long time, and have always enjoyed. I just haven't cooked meat until the last couple months, as I was a vegetarian and then a vegan for all of my adult life until recently (I'm 39). It makes my big grill actually seem worth owning. :)
