Khichdi, an Indian rice dish is one the most nutritious yet the most light food for the toddlers. It is usually given to the patients who are recovering from the diseases. It contains red lentils and rice.
Method:
250 grams rice (wash and soak in water)
150 grams red lentils (wash and soak in water)
onion- 1 shallot
ginger garlic paste-1 tbsp
oil- 4 tbsp
cardamom- 2-3
Cinnamon- 2 sticks
cloves- 4-5
turmeric 1/4 tsp
salt- as per taste
coriander- 1 bunch(chopped)
green chilies-3-4
all spices powder- 1 tsp
Method:
In a cooker, add oil and add sliced onion . After onion turns pink, add ginger garlic paste and fry till brown. Add cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and saute them. Now add turmeric powder and salt. Saute for 1 minute. Add coriander and green chillies. Add spices powder.

Now add 1 glass of water and allow it to boil. Add the rice and red lentils. Cover with lid and allow 2 whistles.
Serve with ghee, tomato chutney and papad.
