How To Tell Your Body to Shed Fat

Telling Your Body You Want to Shed Fat

I honestly think that we have a conscious brain, but our body has another sort of mind. The problem is that the two of them don't always communicate the way we left-brained animals think they should. We can't just talk to our bodies with words. Instead, we have to talk to our bodies with our food choices and activity.

Why isn't your body listening? When we try to cut calories without good communication, our bodies panic and think we are starving. When that happens, our body desperately tries to hold onto every ounce of fat it can. This just makes dieting a miserable experience that's prone to failure.

How To Talk To Your Body About Losing Fat?

OK, I know this sounds odd, but somehow we have to use our activity and diet as a way to tell our bodies that we're fine. We're not starving. We're just too fat and need to slim down. Once the body receives the message, weight loss becomes almost effortless and a lot more fun. So, how do we do this magical thing? You do it by sending your tummy plenty of food and water! You do it by revving up your metabolism a bit to burn fat. Once your body gets the message, you two will start getting along again. Really.

Here's what works for me:

Every day, you need some kind of activity. You don't have to workout like a professional athlete. But you should get up and walk your dog, mop your floor, or walk around the grocery store. If you have trouble walking, look into some chair exercises. I also keep some lightweight hand weights I also try to use several times a day. You might think you don't have time because your behind is glued to a computer, but you'll have more energy later, so your activity will actually buy you more time!

Takeaway: Activity helps boost metabolism. If you can build any muscle, it will help you burn more fat. If you're sedentary and dislike exercise, I promise you don't have to sweat or hurt yourself to get this to work. Just do something more than you are doing right now.

Don't let your body think you're starving, In other words, don't let yourself get hungry. Focus on protein, healthy fat, and fiber. For the first several days, it helps to cut carbs a lot. The first few days are important because that's when you need to establish this communication with your body to get it to cooperate with you.

Eggs are a great choice because they're actually a nutritional bargain. Salads with protein for topping are good too. If you don't eat animal protein, focus on low-carb, high-protein choices. Cheese is fine too. Just keep food in your tummy during the day. Don't avoid fat because fat doesn't make you fat, and it keeps your body happy.

Drink water or other hydrating drinks If your body thinks it's dehydrated, it will put the brakes on your metabolism. Sometimes when you are thirsty, you will think you are hungry. Have a nice mineral water or cup of coffee instead. Actually, coffee and green tea have been shown to help boost metabolism. Avoid drinks with sugar, of course. While artificial sweeteners aren't ideal, go ahead and have a couple a day if you crave sweet drinks. Adding cream to your coffee is fine.

That's the point. You want to diet but not let your body get the idea it needs to slow down your metabolism.

Add back in high-fiber carbs You don't need to cut carbs for the rest of your life to lose weight or maintain weight. Proper carb choices should also pack in lots of nutrition. Good examples are sprouted grain bread, sweet potatoes, and of course, all sorts of legumes. Once you're started to lose weight, go ahead and add in starches like white potatoes and rice, but you should probably exercise some portion control.

Baked or boiled potatoes with some butter or sour cream is a fine treat, but you should probably not have it for every meal. Also, if you're going to have a loaded potato, that should probably be your main course. Have it with a salad and not with meat.

If it's your birthday, go ahead and have cake. Of course, you cant' deprive yourself of sweets for the rest of your life, but they shouldn't really be a daily treat. Remember that you are trying to create a lifetime plan and not a crash diet here. It's best to avoid sweets until you've already started talking to your body.

If you go out with friends for pizza, have a salad first to keep yourself from eating too much pizza. Once you've had success on your diet, you will probably find that a salad and a couple of slices of pizza keeps you and your body happy.

Anyway, some days I will count calories, but I don't do it daily. What I find is that when I focus on eating protein, fat, and produce with just some high-fiber carbs and fat, I feel full on fewer calories. It usually takes me a few weeks to really get in the "ZONE" to start losing weight, but it works.

I also found that this egg fast diet plan helps to get a jumpstart: https://steemit.com/diet/@theinsideout/what-does-an-egg-fast-really-do

I like the article, but just to make sure you know you misspelled body in the title.

Thanks! Maybe I was thinking Buddy? Maybe I am just hungry from dieting? Who knows? I appreciate your catch and updated it. :)
