Ingredients for the Cuban mojito:
1) 2 twigs of mint or yerbabuena
2) 2 teaspoonfuls of sugar
3) The juice of 1 lemon
4) 1 ½ (45 ml more or less) of white rum
5) A bit of crushed ice
6)Soda or sparkling water up to the top of de glass
These ingredients are for a glass of mojito.
Preparation
- use a high ball glass, thorw de sugar and spill the lemon’s juice and mix it up to dissolve
- throb the leaves of yerbabuena with the hands (to scare them) and throw them
- throw ice up to the top of the glass and pour the white rum
- refill with soda and if it is necessary refill with ice
- decorate with a leaf yerbabuenaor the Sun of lemon
History
The name of Mojito comes in view of of I wet, Spanish word that was giving name to a Caribbean sauce in which the lime was in use.
It is said history that it was in the 16th century when the first mojito was done, but not with rum, but with tafia, the predecessor of the rum the one that was lacking the step along the distilled one. Between the XVIIth and XVIIIth century one started revealing the tafia and one gave step to the rum, but it was with the introduction of alembics of copper and the process of aging when the rum won in quality, as far back as the 19th century.
