Home Made Pork Rinds - "Every good southerner loves pork rinds"

in #food7 years ago (edited)

My husband making pork rinds, as he says every year prior to this ceremony of glorifying calories "Every good southerner loves pork rinds" and he always says it in a US southern accent, and always remembers one of his friends from South Carolina, a man named Jim who was in operation OIF with him back in 2003.

Here are some photos:

He makes them using the Croatian recipe, that is where I am originally from.

What he loves the most is the little mini bits and pieces of rinds on the bottom of the can of lard.

The lard, no matter what some people may think is fantastic for deepfrying!

Here is a link about pork rinds made as per the Croatian recipe, a little different to the US Southern pork rinds:

here is the US recipe:

Either way he just polishes them off like a kid with a bag of chips!

Damn, those look way better than the crappy ones I've bought at the gas station haha

Who doesn't like pork rinds! I love your pictures in demonstrating how you do it. Seeing a picture is so much more valuable . And your detail is really appreciated.

Love em!

That is why I put the photos up, to me it is much easier to make something when I watch a video or see step by step photos, but when cooking I don't think about taking photos I am thinking about the job at hand.

I guess that I have to start doing that for my future posts here, than you for your comment and support.

Looks delicious! Is that water in the blue container?

Yes, that is the washing up process, boil water add a little dish washing liquid and scrub up.
