Grandma's richer waffles

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 c buttermilk
  • 1 t baking soda
  • 2 t baking powder
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1/2 c soft shortening
  • 1 t vanilla
  • 1 3/4 c flour

Mix all ingredients except flour together until smooth. Slowly add flour and mix until smooth again.

Pour in hot waffle iron. Makes 6-8 waffles depending on iron size.

Top with your favorite fruit compote or syrup and enjoy.

While this is most definitely not the healthiest recipes for waffles it is the yummiest I have found. Waffles are crisp on the outside while soft and moist inside. Family favorite. image
