- 3 eggs
- 1 1/2 c buttermilk
- 1 t baking soda
- 2 t baking powder
- 1/2 t salt
- 1/2 c soft shortening
- 1 t vanilla
- 1 3/4 c flour
Mix all ingredients except flour together until smooth. Slowly add flour and mix until smooth again.
Pour in hot waffle iron. Makes 6-8 waffles depending on iron size.
Top with your favorite fruit compote or syrup and enjoy.
While this is most definitely not the healthiest recipes for waffles it is the yummiest I have found. Waffles are crisp on the outside while soft and moist inside. Family favorite.
