Curd oats makes a healthy breakfast or an evening snack to bridge a long gap between lunch and dinner. And, is perfect for those hot summer days! 🌞
Ingredients:
(Serves 2)
3/4 cup Oats
1/2 cup Water
1 cup Curd
Salt to taste
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
A sprig of curry leaves
1/2 inch ginger, finely chopped
1/2 tbsp. Bengal gram (chana dal)
1/2 tbsp. Skinned black gram (urad dal)
1 whole red chili
1 tbsp. Mustard oil
For Garnish:
Finely chopped carrot, onion, coriander leaves and a few pomegranate seeds
Procedure:
- Bring water to boil in a saucepan.
- Put oats and turn off the flame. Cover and keep aside.
- In a mixing bowl, put curd and salt. Whisk for a few seconds. Keep aside.
- In a ladle or a small pan. Heat oil.
- Add chana dal. Once it starts changing colour, add urad dal and mustard seeds.
- Once the seeds splutter, add curry leaves and ginger. Give a stir and add red chilies. Turn off the flame and add this tadka to the curd.
- Add soaked oats to the curd and mix well so that no lump remains.
- Garnish with finely chopped carrot, onion, coriander leaves and pomegranate seeds.
Serve right away or oats will become thicm and soggy soaking up the curd.
Note:
- Keep extra seasoned curd in case you would like to add some extra to your curd oats.
- Serve right away.
