Hi Guys
I hope firstly everyone had a peaceful and awesome Friday.
Tonight was Dinner at my Brother's place, being a Proud South African with a Indian cultural background some our famous South African indian dishes were on the menu.
Menu
Mixed Green Salad
Mutton Curry with Melting Potatoes
Chicken Curry with Melting Potatoes
Chicken with Sugar Beans Curry
Chicken Livers Dry Braised
Basmati Rice
Home hand made Roti/bread
I do apologize for the quality of the images, everyone was really hungry and was rushing me to take out the pics as fast as possible. Food makes us impatient I suppose.
All the curries were cooked on an outside fire , which makes a huge difference in my opinion , somehow it just adds extra flavor and we South Africans love our outside fires.
Also the whole process of setting up the fire place and getting a good fire started maybe just makes you appreciate the whole process more. Its brings the family together in one unified effort. I suppose that's one of the reasons ancient man valued fire so much, which we now take for granted.
The evening was filled with chatter back and forth, and trying to keep track of each conversation was a bit difficult but that's what happens at our dinner table. Everyone has something to say at the same time , it's organised chaos, but somehow everyone understands each other and everyone's message is heard. It's a bit difficult to put into words. I guess we are a Family!
I think that explains it the best way I can. We just get each other!
As a family, we a simple loving family that was brought up always to love and treat each other and others with respect in the same way that you would like to be loved and respected. Please don't miss understand me, as all families, we do have misunderstandings at times but it is always short lived.
I hope you guys enjoy the pics.
I wish you all a peaceful life.

@mars9. thank you my friend. I was just busy reading one your posts.
Love the pictures and the story! I am a huge fan of chicken livers. What kind of curry was it? Do you have a recipe you can share with us? Cheers and thank you for the post!!
Hi @bruckdashel. Thank you so much. I truly appreciate it. I will get the recipes from my mum tomorrow. The curries were mutton and chicken. I will also get you my mums' masala mix. That's the key to the flavor. Thank you so much for your support!
Masala is always the key to flavor! I love grinding up curry powders :-)
You perfectly correct! By grinding your own spices , you will truly appreciate the actually flavor of the different spices, indian food doesn't need to be spicy hot , its better to be spicy in flavor. I will nag my mum for her mix. Everyone has their own special mix, which they always think is the best lol :)
i am hungry beucau yours

my pleasure
Great post Sashin. The guests that stay in the holiday homes I rented out, lots of times either bring us some Breyanie or Curry, or leave it for us in the fridge. We are not used eating such "hot" foods, but with a glass of milk on the side, we enjoyed it very much! I admire people for who family is important! They discovered a very valuable thing, something that have worth till eternity.
That looks great!
Hi @olmech. Thank you my friend.
