Dumpster diving is really cool at least people are doing something to minimize waste. There are a lot of people in this world who could live and benefit from the waste of others. It could cure world hunger too. I wish people realize that.

I think it's sick the amount of food that gets thrown away, I delivered food to Ica and Willys and coop for 7 years and I saw tons of good food discarded as nothing.

Yes @markwhittam, been doing this for many years now and it's hard to grasp to what extent this is done if you haven't seen it with your own eyes. This is only part of what food I've saved from one single store the last days with my trusty bike! ;)

How do you ensure that the meats are still ok to eat?

It's ideal weather in Sweden now for dumpstering meat as it's pretty cold outside. But of course I can't guarantee that everything is ok... but you learn to trust you senses when it comes to food when you don't stare yourself blind on expiry dates! ;)
Never had any problems so far nor has my friends and we've been doing it for many years now...
Very cool. That's understandable because it's getting closer here in Indiana to be at or below freezing most of the time so yeah most meat thrown out would stay frozen or close to it.
Exactly and the stores here throw away things systematically before the expiry date which is called "Bäst före" (best before) which is not even close to have gone bad.
