The practice of foraging in garbage that has been put out on the street in dumpsters, garbage cans, etc., for discarded items that may still be valuable, useful, or fixable.
Thursdays Weekly Meet-ups:
Every week on Thursdays we meet up in the middle of the city to share the abundance of food. It's a great way to meet and support each other. We do it at the same time as the decentralized farmers market that I've initiated which adds more value for everyone!
This weeks meet-up was another great success and I gave away most of what I had in store. Also got some contacts to team up with the local stores going forward!
I'm also looking to collaborate with another food saving initiative called "Solidarity Fridge" (Solidariskt Kylskåp) which collects food from stores and puts them in open fridges around the city!

Wow your dumpsters with food are like natural refrigerators in the Swedish winter cold! I imagine this food saving program would be a huge hit with steem!

However, I do want to alert everyone to a serious fact: this dumpster diving is dangerous to your health and life! Why?
Heroin users and other drug users freely dump their used, contaminated syringes in the garbage.
These uncovered needles can expose you to HIV, Hepatitis,and other blood borne diseases.
Hey @tammywatkins. Always wear gloves when diving mostly not to get dirty! In Sweden we don't have that problem and I actually don't think the risk is very high in many place in the world. There are some stories circulating that I tihnk is made to scare people off from doing it as they want it to happen in the dark and because of the extent it's being done. But always be careful of course. Diving is not for everyone and there are many ways one could help in changing this. Vote with your money! :)

Ah, now I understand! You have been getting all of those "new looking" items from the stores when they give them away. How silly of me to not think of that. Hey @reko, could you possibly do a more comprehensive article on the Discord system. I have been using it for a while, but never really feel comfortable with it as it is a bit confusing (compared to Steemit Chat). Perhaps you could CLEARLY explain all fo the intricacies of that tool, and then give a more comprehensive list of Discord rooms which regular bloggers can use to promote their articles. Not many people hae written proper articles on how to use this powerful tool.
