Okra Saute

Okra is also called lady-finger. it is laxative and anti-inflammatory in nature. It has many nutritive elements such as Sugar Dietary fibers , Carbohydrates ,Zinc,Potassium ,Sodium, Magnesium,Protein,Calcium, vitamin A,B 1 ,B 2, B 3, C, E, and K .
This is a very tasty dish and can be served as a side dish in a meal .Vegetarians and non vegetarians will definitely enjoy this dish.

Ingredients :

Okra - 200 gms

Onion - 1
Garlic -2-3 cloves
Red chilly - 2
Ginger - 1/2 inch piece
Chilly powder -1 t
Ground pepper -1/4 t
Turmeric powder -1/4 t
Curry leaves - 2 stalks (optional )
Lemon juice or vinegar - 1/2 t
Cooking oil - 1- 1 1/2 T
Salt - to taste

Method :
Split the okra length wise and cut into medium size pieces .
Slice onion finely.
Chop ginger and garlic finely.
Heat the oil and fry red chilies.
Add sliced onion and saute well.

Add ginger and garlic into this and stir well.
Add all powders and add cut okra and stir well .

Salt and vinegar/lemon juice can be added at this stage.
Stir well and keep the lid on and cook until okra is soft .
Serve hot with meat and rice .
