Mango milk shake and other dishes using Mangoes

Mango milk shake was prepared using mangoes from the tree in our back yard.This particular variety is called Kottukkonam mangoes. The flesh of these mangoes,even when ripe,are never mushy,but remains firm.It has a particular flavor of its own.

Health benefits of Mangoes:

Mango fruit is rich in pre-biotic dietary fiber,vitamins,minerals and poly-phenolic flavonoid antioxidant compounds.
According to the new research study, mango fruit has been found to protect from colon,breast,leukemia and prostrate cancers.Several trial study suggest that poly phenolic antioxidant compounds in mango are known to offer protection against breast and colon cancers.
Mango fruit is an excellent source of Vitamin - A and flavonoids like beta-carotene, alpha-carotene and B-cryptoxanthin.
100 gram fresh fruit provides 765 I U or 25% recommended daily levels of Vitamin A,156 mg of potassium , and 2 mg sodium.
It is also an excellent source of Vitamin B 6,Vitamin C and Vitamin E.
Further,it composes moderate amounts of copper.

Serving method:

Mango fruit can be enjoyed all alone without any seasonings /additions.

Fresh mango cubes are a great addition to fruit salad.


Mango juice with ice cubes is a popular delicious drink.

Mango milk shake:

Mango fruit is also used to prepare jam, jelly,ice-cream and in sweet candy industries.
Unripe , raw ,green mango has been in use in the preparation of pickle and chutney.

Mango pickle: ( Method is explained in my previous post. Instead of bilimbi,mangoes can be used as the main ingredient.)
