An Awesome Spanish Pintxos Bar in Central London

I've had my eye on eating at PIX for quite a while and was lucky to get a walk-up table with my friend, last week.

PIX is a wine bar offereing Spanish finger food “pintxos”. It is very well located in the heart of West End just off Dean Street.

Once inside the resturant, we found the vibe of this place simply amazing – dim lighting, neon signs and 70s music. It was so cosy, ambient and bustling - a very good start, it seemed.

There are tables for two along the wall in the first room by the bar, as well as others further back. We were seated at two bar stools with a big enough platform for eating.

There, we were served our drinks. The food was self-service from a hot and cold section. The pintxos are freshly prepared and served from the bar. They either come on short sticks (£2.50) or long sticks (£3.50), which you then place in a small bottle on your table. These form the basis of your bill. A great concept, I think.

A real taste of Spain, the pinxtos were delightful, plenty to choose from, with all tastes catered for, from patatas bravas, tortillar to smoke Salmon and anchovies on ciabatta. Each was simply divine.

A waiter carrying delicious food fresh from the kitchen was offered to each table on their way to the front display, which looked and smelt delicious too. What stood out for me were the cheese croquettes and meat balls. The goat cheese and fig were also to die for. If you have sweet tooth, they have delicious "Churros & Chocolate", which is just heaven!

PIX also has an excellent wine list and the Rose Cava was a surprisingly good choice, recommended by the staff. Even the cocktails were awesome!

The service is exquisite and the staff were friendly and efficient. It can get really busy and perhaps a bit too closed in between tables but still pleasant.

They also do unlimited pintxos deal for £10 at lunchtime, between 12:30 – 17:00 Monday to Friday. This is an amazing deal that you don’t want to miss out on!!

We also found out that the downstairs section is called “Rooms By Hour”, a naughty new drinking den with private booth where a 70s soft-core porn is played on a TV screen. How's hat for originality! If you want a bit of Soho subculture, ask for a “Room By Hour” after 18:00, I will say no more, lol.

Overall, a delightful bar and restaurant with fantastic food. I love this place so much for a relaxed and enjoyable time where everyone can eat as much or as little as they want. If you want to visit on Friday night or weekend, definitely make a booking so you are not disappointed as it does get really busy.
