Its Coffee Time! Upgrade Your Coffee Experience; The Powerful Benefits of Cold Brew Coffee. Easier, Healthier, More Delicious!

in #food7 years ago

Good Morning!

I LOVE coffee as I am sure many of YOU do!

Its not just delicious in the MANY ways it can be consumed, but it has special powers. It has the ability to wake you up and help you focus, it has the ability to turn a grumpy morning into something livable and even productive!

Coffee is a staple in many peoples lives......Imagine life WITHOUT coffee?!?!?!

I put in 12-16 hours a day of "work" or as I like to call it "productive play" I also often go with 5 or 6 hours of sleep and in crunch times much less.

So coffee is a valuable commodity to me as I know it is to many of you as well.

So we all know what we love about it and what it does for us. What I would like to do with this post is potentially provide a more sustainable, healthy and effective upgrade to your coffee reality!

Lets get into it!

What are the benefits to cold brew? A GREAT QUESTION!

Ok so #1 cold brew coffee is WAY less acidic. Acidic consumables are NOT healthy and the body works much better when in a PH range of 7-8.  Cold Brew coffee is generally more than 50% more alkaline (less acidic) than hot brew coffee! You can read a very valuable and important series on how PH (acidic vs alkaline) work in the MANY @gardenofeden posts of recent.

#2 Cold Brew coffee is more sustainable. The reason being is that you do not need to heat water to make it which saves time and energy. Thus it is more sustainable.

#3 Cold Brew coffee is easier to make. You don't need to heat water or let it steep.

#4 Cold Brew coffee last way longer than hot brew. Everyone knows that hot brewed coffee taste pretty nasty real quick. Cold Brew coffee is PRIME up to 2 weeks!

#5 Cold Brew coffee taste less bitter and has a sweeter and more full flavor because the heat is not destroying these flavor compounds!  Just one (8 oz) cup of coffee provides 11 percent of the recommended daily intake of vitamin B2, 6 percent of vitamin B6, and 3 percent of manganese and potassium. Along with nutrients, certain compounds in coffee may also have skin-loving benefits as well. A 2015 study published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute notes that drinking four or more cups of coffee per day is associated with a lower risk of developing melanoma, a deadly form of skin cancer.

OK OK so cold brew is more sustainable, healthier, easier, faster, cheaper what are the DOWN SIDES????

Well the ONLY downside I can think of is that its not HOT. Though this is somewhat fixable if you really like your hot coffee. Simply take your cold brew coffee and slowly warm it up to the perfect temp without out getting it TOO hot. If it gets to hot it starts to get more and more acidic and you loose many of the heath upgrades to regular coffee.

So how do you make it???

GREAT QUESTION!

Step 1: Get a choice mean and grind the kind of coffee bean you love most. Ideally one that is organic and free trade or better yet grown your self or by a local or harvested or salvaged from a trash resource!

Step 2: Add that ground coffee to filtered water (please make sure it is filtered water, as tap water is POISON!). The coffee grounds tend to work better if they are a more coarse grind rather than a fine grind. The amount of water to coffee just depends on how strong you like your coffee. I like to make it strong and if you want to dilute it you always can! The general recipe is 1 cup of coffee grounds to 4 cups of water. Remember that FRESHLY ground beans are the most delicious!

I live and thrive in The Garden of Eden where we prepare our food in an outdoor kitchen!

I am using a clamp jar here because it seals nice and is easier than a screw on lid jar.

Step 3: Stir up the ground coffee and water in a jar or container with a lid and put in the refrigerator unless its nice and cool out, then you can just leave it out! Leave it there for 12-24 hours.

Step 4: 12-24 hours later take it out and put it into a french press (easiest way) or pour it through a filter.

Step 5: Add whatever specialties you like to your coffee. Sweeteners, milks etc. Remember that if you want your coffee warm you can warm it up slowly but not to hot and you will still get the lower acidic benefits of the cold brew with the comfort of a warm cup!

Step 6: Put back the rest of the filtered coffee into the fridge! I like to make a whole weeks worth at ONE time as it keeps perfectly in the fridge once filtered unlike hot coffee which gets NASTY quick! This is one of the best benefits of cold brew is you can make a whole weeks worth of coffee in the same amount of time it takes to make one days worth!

Step 7: ENJOY THAT COFFEE AND ITS BENEFITS!

Now remember the MANY benefits of this cold brew coffee!

  1. More sustainable
  2. Easier to make
  3. Last WAY longer
  4. Taste better!
  5. Healthier!

You can make a whole weeks or more worth of this coffee and put it in a thermos or bottle for your days work and simply refill it whenever you want more coffee! No need for heating up water, filtering it every time and keeping it hot! Plus remember its healthier and more sustainable to boot!

I have been doing this for a few weeks now and have found it to be all in all a big upgrade. Give it a try, its very easy, taste better and most importantly far healthier!

Coffee has many benefits but is often something that degrades peoples health. This cold brew methods greatly improves the health benefits of your very important coffee high!

As always I appreciate your support and welcome your feedback!

Yea its an upgrade for sure!

We can not really imagine a day without coffee. Coffee is so great a brand that it does not have to talk about it, they are all used every day.

Yes, well this is the benefits of coffee without as many negatives.

seriously i start my day with a cup of coffee. And when i dont take coffee my mind doest wake up completely .lol .

Yes I feel ya. GIVE THIS A TRY!

Amazing

Whats so amazing?

哇,原生态啊!

What makes you think this comment will get any up vote or follow?

I love cold brew coffee. It keeps my body pumped and wakes me up like no other coffee does!!!

One additional point (perhaps a sub-point of Tastes Better): Cold Brew Is More Refreshing.

I still drink a daily mug of hot coffee year round but I do like cold brewed coffee quite a bit when the weather is hot. It's particularly good for outdoor activities.

If one has a stainless steel, vacuum-insulated canteen or mug filled with cold brew it's very energizing and refreshing for hiking, biking and other sports.

Coffee is NOT good for sports or athletics, it is a diuretic and thus dehydrates the body. Its only good for mental activities, not physical ones.

Okay, I understand your point however I have to disagree in practice for myself since I don't think that something like 8-24 ounces of cold brewed coffee is going to be damaging especially when fluids are being replenished (with the necessary salt included).

For the type of amateur sport I pursue (mountain biking with friends 8-12 miles on an outing) it's quite refreshing and energizing. While long term dehydration is a negative, based on what I've been learning over-hydration (out of balance with needed minerals) is a greater problem in athletes and the general population.

You can disagree with science all you want.....
HAHAHAHAHA

Okay, wow...I guess I should have just said "I love cold brew" instead of trying to leave a comment of substance based on my personal experience.

you can do whatever you want, just as I can hahaha

good post. thank you for sharing, help me because I want to grow with you

@quinneaker I've recognized that when it appears to be like terrible, just stepping absent for your moment would make all the primary difference on the earth.
